another thread addressed brooks up and down, but to recap those points here:
brooks can score, which is great. but he is a volume shooter who can make some great shots missed with a number of "what was he thinking?!?" shots. you will see good baskets mixed with a distressing number of shots early in the clock, the team out of position for rebounds, passing up an open man, etc.
that is, your typical volume shooter caveat appears here.
and at 3 pointers, he needs to improve quite a bit. at 30% he is among the very worst in the nba at this.
next,....what? what else does he do that is nba level?
he turns the ball over almost as much as he makes assists, 1.4 TO to 1.6 Assists. that is pretty poor.
and his defense? ... maybe no one ever taught him how to play and he can learn in boston. i hope so because he doesnt play defense well at all right now.
after watching boston's defense for the past 5 years, posters here may be pulling their hair out at his defense.
i am glad the celtics got brooks in the trade. he will bring scoring off the bench. but let's not get carried away with our expectations.
my hope is that he will WANT to work and improve, and, that the next celtics coaching staff can teach him how to improve.
but if he doesnt want to learn and change, i dont get my hopes up for him being much more than what folks predicted... a volume shooter who has few nba skills outside of shooting.
