 Kevin Freakin Garnett
 Pierce
 Joe Johnson
 D Williams

That's impressive I say 48 wins for some reason.

They're in the East, they'll break 50 wins.

Depends on depth, how they fill out that roster.

As it stands, there isn't much depth behind a 37 year old Kevin Garnett and 36 year old Pierce.

If one or both break, their season is over.

Low to mid 50s is my guess.

i'm more concerned with their reserves. that starting five is not that young to play the whole 82 games. and also their rookie coach, maybe he can play backup to deron from time to time. ;D

They're starting an AARP club in Brooklyn.

With a team like this, giving the reigns to a recent retired player, first time head coach in Jason Kidd makes little sense.

That is going to be one slow and methodical team...weak rebounding frontline too.

Enough talent, though, to be the second best team in the East.

True. Although, the Heat did give their reigns to an inexperienced head coach who had never even played in the NBA.

I'm wondering if KG can still guard NBA 4s night in and night out.  He'll probably still do well against big teams like Indiana, but not being able to stay back in the paint against stretch 4s could really hurt his effectiveness.

Gotta remember as well. This team is gonna have rebounding problems. They may seem large but Brook Lopez is afraid of the paint. Reggie Evans was a beast on the boards for them last year and he is gone. Garnett is a good rebounder, but he's not of the age to crash in the paint all game long now.

I get the sense, and maybe this is just me trying to be as optimistic as possible as my Celtics memories come crashing down around me -- but, I feel as though this Nets team could have a lot of the same problems our recent Celtics team had.

Lebron James after the trade dropped his drink.

I hope the nets dismantle the heat. They will be my 2nd fav team this year

They have D-Will who can do everything Rondo can. Oh wait. He was out? I forgot.

Joe Johnson can actually score, whereas Bradley/Lee/Terry couldn't. And Pierce/KG aren't forced to become the first/second option so even if they aren't good offensively, defensively they can come in and do work.

I actually think that the Nets will under-achieve versus what will be extremely high expectations for next year.  The nets don't have much of a bench after the trade, and with KG's aging body and PP slow breakdown, I honestly don't see them as contenders versus the heat.  I wish they were.

I guess it comes down to I don't believe D Williams / B Lopez and J Johnson are that great.  I think D Will is over rated.  I like Lopez, but he doesn't control the game like a guy his size should.  Will having KG and PP help?  Of course, but will it raise the overall level of their team enough to beat the Heat, or Indiana.  I say no.

I say 46 wins and eliminated in the 2nd round of the playoffs.  It just feels like when Malone and Payton went to the Lakers to try and push for another ring.

LOL... you're kidding right?

They won 49 with Wallace and Humphries and yet you have them winning 48 with KG and Pierce.

You severely undervalue how good KG and Pierce are.  When KG plays, he has as big a defensive impact as any player in the NBA.  Pierce is one of the most versatile scorers in the entire league and even at his age proves he can carry an offense.  You pair them with D-Will (who i still say is better than Rondo), Joe Johnson (absolutely better than any SG we have) and Lopez (probably the best big man KG has ever played next to)... that's a dangerous team if the old fellas stay healthy.   That team has size and experience.
