Trade is an insult to PP and KG.

I don't know where people are getting idea this Brooklyn team will be elite. I don't see them ever getting out of the first round. Brook Lopez is overrated. KG and PP can still play a part, but they can't carry a team on their own anymore, as we've seen. Deron Williams is good, but not great.

If they get a lucky first round match-up they might squeak into the conference semifinals, but that team is going nowhere fast.

What a disgrace.

I have a big problem with Celtics fans which I often find myself being a component of, being a Celtics fan myself. Any trade in which we don't 100% fleece the other team is a bad one, and one that would justify the firing of whichever executive is responsible. The fact of the matter is that as I see it, this deal is a very good one for both sides. Yes, we take back Gerald Wallace, but it is the only way we can match salaries in this proposed trade. Also, it's probably the only way you can convince the Nets to make the deal. We won't be good for at least two to three years at least, so it's not as if we're on the brink of contention but bogged down by a poisonous contract.

I see a lot of people challenging the point in swapping the expiring contract of Pierce for the expiring contract of Humphries. For one, Humphries' contract is slightly easier to trade at the deadline if we want to. Also, Humphries is worse than Pierce. If our only goal this season is to shed salary and collect assets, wouldn't we want a player that will accelerate our rebuilding process (as worse teams have a better chance at getting a lottery pick) rather than one that has us dwelling in the middle of the pack for a few more years?

As for Tornike Shengelia, a lot of Celts fans are overlooking this guy. It's very telling that a lot of Nets fans are hesitant in becoming what is basically a bona fide contender just to keep him. Great offensive game, remarkable motor, good size, 21 years old? Sign me up. We're lucky to be getting a prospect like this.

Another concern Cs fans have is that ATL could possibly swap picks with the Nets in 2014, which appears to be the first pick the Cs would get in this deal. How much damage could that really do? I can't see the Hawks having a better record than the Nets next year, and if by chance they do, it won't be so much better that this deal wouldn't be worth the trouble. If, as some people say, the picks in fact start in 2015 per league rules, I still hold my position despite the Hawks ability to swap picks in that draft as well. If the picks start in 2016 for the same reasons, we don't have to worry about the Hawks.

Finally, with the inclusion of Jason Terry now looking more and more likely, the Celtics shed the contracts of older, better players that would weigh down their cap space and hold the Celtics' rebuilding process hostage.

Overall, this deal is a good one and the calls for Danny to be fired because of this rumor are absurd. Rebuilding is a necessary process at this point, warts and all. Celtics fans must shake their aspirations to rob teams blind like the Lakers have done recently and for once rebuild like a normal NBA franchise.

You have a lot of people agreeing with you, but I do not.

Getting picks in the high 20's over the next 5 years, will be of little help IMO. Building through the draft is a good way to suck for 5-10 years. You get the best players you can and get more assets and trade them all for better players.

If you want to be the next Bobcats, this is the way. But I'd bet my own life my way would be quicker.

Who's to say Ainge plans to build through the draft? I would like to think he has a better plan than that. He's collecting assets that he then could use when the right trade comes along. Something similar to what the Rockets did to acquire Harden. Doing that put them in a position to get Howard.

well I guess i have to be one of the ones to disagree with you. The bobcats are the bobcats because MJ is a HORRIBLE drafter, (remember Adam Morrison at 3), I will roll the dice the Danny drafting high. And second of all, you dont know where those picks will end up. Can you predict injuries and trades and signings for the teams who's picks we have?  I remember in 1997 David Robinson breaking his foot, missing almost the whole year, SA  then gets a lottery pick they should have never gotten and the rest is history.  And the more picks you have, the more trades you can make. Teams always want to move down in drafts or shed salary (how we got rondo) ect.  So I'm gonna disagree sir.

I hope this is step one to something more. Picks are nice...but he has to have a plan to move the junk the nets are sending

Bottom line if this deal happens it is the best trade that the Boston Celtics have made since the early 80's.

I have no doubt that this is the case. I don't think Wallace will be here for long or Humphries.

Why? It's not like the C's are going to be a contender the next few years anyways. Hard to say at this point what he can do with them until all the details of the trade come out.

side note I can see joseph coming back to us he has a non guaranteed contracts with the nets next year, also bogans would have to have all his contract guaranteed next year, and the deal would have to be for 3 years, but 2nd and 3rd year would be non guaranteed

Pretty sure the Allen and kg trades were 100 times better

Because I would rather play young guys than watch the bums from the nets

Whenever you give up young assets for older ones its not a good thing. I would have rather them stay the course and then draft Rose. Also remember that the Celtics could have gotten a great package for Pierce at the time. The fact we are trading 3 washed up players for 1 bad contract 1 expiring and 3 first rounders is AWESOME!

Very happy to dump Jason Terry. Now Danny needs to get rid of Bass.

Sounds like this one is in KG's hands now.  Let's see if he throws a wrench in it.
