I think the Lakers are most likely.  As part of a sign and trade with Howard going somewhere.  That gets him to LA, where he wants to be, and he is a good fit for them.

Wouldn't a KG-Howard frontcourt be preferable to the Lakers? Wondering if Pau might be the guy the Lakers want to trade for Garnett.

I'm not sure Ainge would want to take Pau back, unless he's not only planing on keeping Pierce for next season but then resigning him to let him retire a Celtic.  Maybe a third team can take Pau and send a pick to Boston.

I had a deal in mind: PP and KG to Minn for a 1st this year, a 2nd next year, Pekovic, and Williams. ...even with those contracts they could STILL pick up a FA shooting guard this year.

Love is a C/PF, and I do not think he can guard SFs. He's only 6'9", but he's a power player.

KG/Love/PP with Rubio, FA shooting guard is a team that can play in the half court, can play defense, can rebound, and will not struggle to score.

Pekovic is better than the available; but there are plenty of back-up centers on the market on the lower end of the price spectrum (Pryzbilla, Diop, Kaman) who can all spell KG for 10 minutes.

Obviously, the drop off between KG and Pekovic is gigantic. Pekovic should not even be mentioned in the same breath as KG.

Likewise - PP can get his own shot. D. Williams is functional, not an HOFer.

Well, as long as you trust the media and believe that everything coming from Ainge that finds its way to the media is an accurate view of what Ainge is thinking at the moment....

They clearly valued the Clippers 2015 pick higher than the pick to be used in the next few days.

I doubt they'd trade Garnett with the main assets being picks in this years draft. They'd demand future picks instead. Also Marshon Brooks isn't worth anything it seems to me.

I think a Pierce trade to LAL is more likely than KG.  A World Peace, filler, 2015 unrestricted first makes some sense for both teams.

I really hope PP and KG do not go to the Lakers.  I would hate them immediately and it would pain me to do so.  But I would.

Suns say no a hundred times. A rebuilding team does not want Hinrich, Hamilton, and Taj. Those are pieces for a contender; they aren't young prospects that the franchise can hope the best for. It would be a negative net worth for them, and they can get better picks than #16 and #20 with the 5th.

I know that most people would flip their lid with the idea of trading KG to the Lakers.  The fact is, I would prefer to keep him here to help guide this young team (especially if we do move Pierce and acquire Josh Smith).  However, with all that being said, I think if the C's are going to move KG, LA might be one of the few destinations he would approve...and now that the Clippers are out of the equation, that simply leaves the Lakers.

My proposed trade is the following.

Boston sends:      Kevin Garnett, Brandon Bass, Jason Terry
Boston receives:   Pau Gasol

Why for Boston:    If the Celtics do essentially move Pierce for Josh Smith, they would be well served having a center like Gasol who can step out and hit jumpers consistently in order to spread the floor.  Plus, he's a good rebounder, has a strong low post game and is 4 years younger than KG.  Additionally, the C's would be getting out of a couple of bad deals in Terry's and Bass'...giving them more cap flexibility in a year.

Lakers send:       Pau Gasol
Lakers receive:    Kevin Garnett, Brandon Bass, Jason Terry

Why for Lakers:    With Kobe on his last legs, they might view adding KG to pair with DH as their best option at relevance in the West.  Also, Bass and Terry would probably help off the bench.
