Very comfortable.

Why wouldn't I want to build around an All Star? Rondo just needs three things IMO to have a perfect team.

1.) A big (PF or C) who can hit midrange jumpers to play pick and pop with.

2.) A scoring wing. A guy who can create his own shots once the offense breaks down and who can shoot jumpers at a decent rate.

3.) A shooting wing who can park outside and hit threes consistently and if we're lucky, efficiently.

Give Rondo an open court to work with and a guy who can carry the offensive load with him, you have a great team that jells well. Of course it helps more if those three can do more things, such as defend, rebound at a high rate and stuff, but I think that's how you rebuild around a PG who can easily get to the basket and find open looks for his teammates. And I think with the assets that we have, we can find those players.

Trade Bradley for McLemore. Trade Green, Humphries, Lee for Granger and Mahinmi. Package Wallace and Bass to a contender for a late first. With all our picks, hope to get a top 5 pick in this years draft and/or in 15. Look to make a signing such as Gasol or Aldridge. Back in business! Regardless, im very interested to see how Danny gets the job done.

Very.

True, but I think it's still a very relevant conversation. A lot has been done and somewhat settled on this team and the Rondo decision is still an enormous one.

Yeah, I agree with you Yoki. I think it can be done but its eerily similar how the players you said compare to this eras "big 3"

1) Outside PF/C who can hit mid-range jumpers: Kevin Garnett

2) A scoring wing: Paul Pierce

3) A shooting wing who can park outside: Ray Allen

Is this what we're use to seeing? Or what Rondo really needs to be effective?

Arguably, younger players such as Bradley and Olynyk have been drafted partly because they are considered good fits next to Rondo.  Bradley is a defensive SG whose upside on offense revolves around developing into a good catch-and-shoot jump-shooter instead of being a ball-dominant wing.  Olynyk has the potential to be a stretch four who can make up for the three-point shooting that Rondo does not provide as a point guard.

Good points.  I had been getting a little down on Bradley lately, thinking he is being used in the wrong position, without considering his worth when playing in conjunction with Rondo.

Because it is idiotic to dump that level of talent for pennies on the dollar.

Those 3 things are basically what every title team of the last 25 or so years has (not a Rondo type player for the record).

The question I have for Yoki and others like him and that is how do you go about acquiring those players with Rondo on the team?  That is why I am fully in the move Rondo camp, as I just don't see it as being possible in the next couple of seasons (which is when you have Rondo on the right side of 30 or at all since he can leave as a free agent in 2 seasons).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I don't know if Ainge will "build around" Rondo but he has shown that he can be an important piece of a championship core.

I have posted this before...

The only way to build around Rondo is to model a team after the Kidd led nets of the almost 10 years ago. Even this plan is flawed because these teams never won a ring and played in a then weak eastern conference. To make this type of team the Cs need to do the following.

1. Have a healthy Rondo play hard every night

2. Move AB to the bench and find a knock down 3pt shooter

3. Add a long athletic defender to the big man rotation

4. Sully or Kelly needs to become a solid starter 15-9 type guy

example

PG Rondo
SG Klay Thompson / Danny Green
SF Green
PF Sully
C  Sanders / Ibaka
6th AB
7th Wallace
8th Olynyk

obviously this team would be tough to build but this is what it will take to build around Rondo
Mavs
