According to the Boston Herald

Terry will be helping coach the Celtics' Orlando Summer League team and says that one of his reasons for signing in Boston was to learn from Doc Rivers.  He also cited learning from Danny Ainge as a reason to stick through a rebuilding process.

Why wait, Jet?  Retire!  No hard feelings.  We'd be happy to dump your salary.

Or just, you know, go to La with doc. And coach their summer league team. Or yeah, retire. Just don't be here.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

JET comes off as a pretty standup guy in his comments.  Dude definitely has the right attitude.

This isn't news. In the past, JET has said he wants to coach in the NCAA.
And if a veteran wants to stick around for a rebuild, I'd let him. Younger guys will have to listen to somebody. And again, I feel like Lee or JETs shot has to start falling, soon. Especially since we're just figuring out he had to have his knee drained.
Wade had to have his knee drained in the Finals and look what he did in Game 7 (lol).

I'm cool with that . . . as long as he's okay not getting any playing time.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

That's excellent. If he retires right away, I'd be happy to give him a 1-year trial with the Celtics. :P

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
The cap situation is pretty irrelevant this year. If he wants to stick around, play off the bench, and assist in coaching, I am fine with that. I would, however, like to see him just retire after this season...
