1)Saves the owners money by not paying another coach

2)Danny can control the tanking , where other new coaches would want to win games for their resume

3)Has a relationship with everyone on the team obviously .

Doubt he will, but wouldn't mind if he did

I don't know that coaching the team is something his cardiologist would recommend.

lol I think he's busy enough the entire year.
Plus, I don't think the players will have a good relationship with him as a coach.

I'm going to assume you didn't hear Jackie Mac throwing out this idea. She is one of the most credible Celtics writers there is.

Honestly I think it would be perfect.  Whatever coach they bring is in going to be supposed to put a crappy team on the floor the next few years.  This way Ainge doesnt have to go through the song and dance of a temp coach before Hiring one for the future.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

You are aware that for a while when Danny and Doc were both with the celtics people considered Ainge the best coach in the organization right?

Can't see his doctor recommending that.

I'd be fine with it otherwise.  He should be made to clean up this mess he's made.

He could, but the last time we had a coach who was also the gm, he failed miserably at both jobs.

I'd rather just take a flyer on a young guy like Brian Shaw.  If he works out, great, if he doesn't no problem since we aren't going to be very good anyway.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Are you saying this because people said the exact same things in your "ridiculous thread"? A lot of people?

Danny's proven himself to be considerably better at both jobs than that miserable failure.

well before Ricky P. got to Boston, he actually had a pretty good track record as a coach in the NBA (90-74 in the regular season and 6-7 in the playoffs).  I have no idea what his stint in Boston would have been like if he wasn't also the GM.  It is incredibly difficult to do both jobs, let alone both jobs well.

My memory of Pitino in NY was that the team was really tuning him out, and that's why he was dumped in spite of his record.

This is my thinking. Danny would be a much worse GM if he were also coaching.

How would he find the time to infuriate every other GM in the league with his constant stream of hare-brained trade proposals?

At the 2012 trade deadline:
