I'm not willing pay Larry Sanders nearly 14 million a year.

Nope.

I'd give him Omer Asik money, or maybe a little more, but no higher.

  I agree.

If you're looking to roll the dice, Larry Sanders is one of the better guys to do that with.

He ranks in my top 3 for centers, together with Noah and Mark Gasol.

Top 3?!

Andrew Bynum? Dwight Howard? Roy Hibbert?

If you're going to "roll the dice" on a center, you're rolling them on Sanders over those 3 guys? Not to mention more sure things like KG, Duncan, Tyson Chandler, Al Horford, Aldridge, Greg Monroe....

Larry Sanders isn't sniffing my top 10 and is nowhere near a max contract from what I've seen from him.
I'm not touching Bynum and Howard and their health issues with a 10-foot pole. Given how Hibbert was an abject failure for most of this season (and when he wasn't, he wasn't any better than Sanders at his best, really) -- that matchup is a wash.

So yeah, I'm taking Sanders over any of those three guys. Or over the guys you mentioned (half of them are on their last legs, and half of them aren't really centers).

I strongly disagree with you on Howard and Hibbert.

Chandler is on his last legs?  He's playing arguably the best ball of his career over the last 3 seasons.
Horford?  Aldridge?  Monroe?  You are really nitpicking if you are going to call Sanders a center and say any of those 3 guys aren't "really centers".  Horford and Monroe both logged considerably more minutes at center for their squads than Sanders did.  I could go on... but I'd just be nitpicking as well.

For a guy that can foul out in 24 mins i wouldnt give him anywhere near the max money. Henson and Sanders isnt a bad tandem to build around. From what i saw of henson he can score and rebound well for a skinny kid. Give them both around 14 mil when the time comes. Try and keep reddick as your 6th man, then you fill your wings up with spot up shooters and have a PG that can pass and see the floor well.

I like Sanders, but as a max level guy? No way. I see his ceiling as Marcus Camby. Which is pretty darn good, but doesn't merit max money.

I LOVE Larry Sanders.

But he isn't a max guy. YET. I think thats his ceiling, but he hasn't had enough time to develop to give you a better idea of whether he will be able to reach that or if he is going to be another one of those really really good (but not max) big men who are on contracts bigger than their worth, which can really hinder a team moving forward.

So no I wouldn't give him a max deal, but if there was any chance of getting him to sign a deal like Big Al did for near max money I'd take a shot on him. I love the way he plays and I don't think he is done improving.

I give him my thumbs up:

I like Sanders. Remember the NBA is still a big man's game and I am personally putting this small ball stuff to rest.

What would I give up for Sanders? Bradley, Sully, you name it.

Regardless of whether he's a max player, young talented centers are a rare breed in the NBA.
