How much would you give up for Larry Sanders?

Let me put forward this hypothetical scenario.

Larry Sanders tells the Milwaukee Bucks that he wants a max (or near-max) contract extension.  The Bucks are reluctant to give that much money for a guy who essentially has had less than a full season of outstanding play and explore the idea of selling high and trading him.  This would be similar to OKC trading James Harden rather than giving him an extension.

Let's start with:
Sanders and maybe the contract of Drew Gooden (making $6.7 million for the next two seasons) for Paul Pierce, Jared Sullinger, and the Celtics 2014 first round pick (lottery-protected, of course), with the Celtics giving Sanders a max-extension.  If the cap doesn't change much, max would be approximately $13.7 million in 2013-2014, increasing by about $1 million/year.

How much more are you willing to give up in that deal before the asking price becomes too much?

Sanders might not be a max player now, but by the time he hits free agency he will be. I would give them Pierce and a first for him. Would not give up any of our young core, because bringing him in would be to add to that core.

If you're looking to roll the dice, Larry Sanders is one of the better guys to do that with.

He ranks in my top 3 for centers, together with Noah and Mark Gasol.

I still don't know what to make of Larry Sanders.

Every time I watched him play last season, the guy who he reminded me most of was Chris Andersen. So at this point, I wouldn't be willing to give up all that much for Sanders (either in a trade package or salary wise). I don't have a good enough impression of him at this point.

First off kudos for putting together a trade proposal that is reasonable for the Bucks. It strikes me as good value for the Bucks, I'm not so sure for the Cs, but it is close to fair. Does Gooden have anything left, or is this a bit of a salary dump for the Bucks as well?

I think Sanders is a better overall player than Andersen ever was (better rebounder, better positional defender, some rudimentary offense at least). This being said, the jury is still out on what his sustained production will be. He was extremely solid post-allstar this year, but is that who he's going to be over the course of his career?

Andrew Bynum? Dwight Howard? Roy Hibbert?

If you're going to "roll the dice" on a center, you're rolling them on Sanders over those 3 guys? Not to mention more sure things like KG, Duncan, Tyson Chandler, Al Horford, Aldridge, Greg Monroe....

Larry Sanders isn't sniffing my top 10 and is nowhere near a max contract from what I've seen from him.

If you're going to "roll the dice" on a center, you're rolling them on Sanders over those 3 guys? Not to mention more sure things like KG, Duncan, Tyson Chandler, Al Horford, Aldridge, Greg Monroe....

I'm not touching Bynum and Howard and their health issues with a 10-foot pole. Given how Hibbert was an abject failure for most of this season (and when he wasn't, he wasn't any better than Sanders at his best, really) -- that matchup is a wash.

So yeah, I'm taking Sanders over any of those three guys. Or over the guys you mentioned (half of them are on their last legs, and half of them aren't really centers).

Sanders to me seems like a more athletic version of what Perkins used to be.  Because of the athleticism Sanders is better than Perkins, but I'm certainly not giving max money to Sanders, especially given the teams current makeup.  I mean is Rondo, Green, Sanders a title winning team.  Thus, what is the point of it. 

Sanders would be great on a team like Miami.  They need his rebounding and shot blocking badly.  He would be worth a lot more money to a title contending team like Miami than he would be on a mediocre borderline playoff team like Boston (or Milwaukee for that matter). 

Something like this might make sense for both teams

Gets Miami younger, more salary cap flexibility, and a bit tougher down low.  Milwaukee gets the most talented player in the trade and if they can bring back Dalembert and Ellis (and Jennings), they would be a pretty solid team with Bosh and Haslem added to the mix.

I think Perkins is much more of a Tyson Chandler than a Kendrick Perkins. Sanders is one of my favorite players, if they trade him to the heat I might throw up.

In terms of trading for him, not rondo. But I would literally trade every single player we have outside of Rondo to make it happen.
