Hope that Pierce to Cleveland deal drops as well. There could be a lot of good talent at the back end of this years draft.
I don't. I'd hate to see Pierce finishing his career on a team like Cleveland.
I hope the that deal happens, a 15 million dollar trade exception is huge. That exception, plus two picks in the 2014 draft, and Sullinger and Bradley is a lot of assets to land a superstar player.
Depends what player you want, I guess. If you're after one of Utah's big men, then sure, it's a solid deal. If you want to trade with Atlanta, I'm not sure it matters as much since a) it caps what the Celtics can offer Smith at $15.3 million, which could be about $1.5 less than his max deal, and b) If you can get better assets by helping another team clear payroll, it helps with Atlanta, since they can take back that payroll assuming they don't get Howard and Paul. Their plan b is to tank and get Wiggins (a fine plan B I think, as opposed to it being a plan A), which means that they would like young players, future picks, and expirings, since they have a minimum payroll to hit. Get enough for Pierce and KG, and I think Smith and Horford are a very real possibility. I think that deal is tougher with a trade exception.
But I'm sure we'll know much more by this time next week (Thank Goodness)!
