Assuming he's healthy, Sully is a better player cut from the same prototype. Pass.

Based on what?

Can you tell me a skill that Thomas Robinson has on JS? Rebounding? Defending? Scoring? Passing? So why would I wanna pay him far more and give up a 1st round pick when I have a player at his position at his age who is just plain better?

I know very little about TR, other than the fact that he was in the same draft class (and was drafted much higher) than Sully.

That's why I asked the question.

Ah. I think TR is seen as a solid lunch-pail type player. Hard worker. Good attitude and willingness to learn. And some skill and upside to boot.

But it's weird that as a Top 5 pick he may be dumped twice in a year for lesser assets. Morey is no fool... I know he wants salary relief to make a run at DW12, but if he felt TR was a real asset, he'd keep him and sell on someone else.

As I've said in other posts, I tend to give Kings players a pass because their situation with the ownership was such a mess.

Any players that work for owners that purposefully skimp on an NBA team, to the point where they actually missed the cap floor one season and the toilets are broken deserve a bit of a break for not playing their hardest.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I think the Robinson-Sullinger comparisons in this thread are a little confusing. They have similar length, play super physical, and both have beastly rebounding ability. Otherwise, they don't have much in common- the rest of Sullinger's game is his skill and finesse and the rest of Robinson's game is his quickness and bounce.

Someone asked what Robinson does better than Sullinger. The answer is that Robinson can play above the rim, he is a far better defensive player (or at least he would be on a reasonably coherent team), he can get out in transition, and he can sneak in a little dribble drive here and there. He also comes without any back issues or weight problems.

Well, they have one other thing in common- they both look like they could grow into dominant NBA bigs. Sullinger's ceiling is Al Jefferson whereas Robinson's is Blake Griffin.

So... who doesn't want two of those on their team???

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Stein on Thomas Robinson deal.

"Follow-up trade rumble: Bulls intend to flip Thomas Robinson in subsequent (or connected) deal if they take him from Rockets for No. 20 pick"

How about this
To Boston: Thomas Robinson, 19th pick
To Chicago: Paul Pierce
To Cleveland: Luol Deng

I think this trade works for everyone.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

the #20 pick for Thomas Robinson? I would gladly trade #16 for him. I would be totally disappointed if we don't get in on this.

The challenge is the Celtics can't really offer Houston cap relief for T-Rob.  The China guys don't make enough, so we'd have to send guaranteed salary, like Melo, along with them.

Dunno what Chicago would send though.  I guess Rip's deal that's only $1 mil guaranteed.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

The China guys absolutely make enough to match with T-Rob

They make around $3 MM and he makes $3.5 MM if you include the 25% increase allowed for trades plus the 100k allowed that makes up for the 500k difference.

I agree with this. I could not believe that after all the rumors, the likely trade promise came from the guys who have the #20 overall. If I were Ainge, I would absolutely bite on this opportunity. It's literally a pennies-on-the-dollar dump by the Rockets.
