Do you guys really want to give Demarcus Cousins a max contract?

Cousins averaged 17.1 points and 9.9 rebounds a game last season, shooting a respectable 46.5 percent, with an All-Star level PER of 20.2.

His age? 22.

Imagine if we could flip Paul Pierce, and someone else for Josh Smith. He'd make up for Cousins weak defense.

Rondo/Shooter/Green/Smith/Cousins.

You're telling me that can't contend in a year?

DMC and Jordan and J Smith with Rondo  ....would NOT be an easy out for any team including the heat ..... if we had a great Coach

Two decent centers and star point guard , we would sniffing at playoffs again.

Yeah, I'd be perfectly happy moving forward with Rondo - Green - Cousins and maybe Josh Smith, if you can fit the salary in there.  Trade any other assets the team has . . . that group wouldn't be that hard to build around.

His talent has never been the question.

Issue is he has fueded with literally every coach he has ever had. I would make a trade for him but he would need a "prove it" year before I even thought about giving him a max deal. So far, he hasent shown he can act right or professional.

I don't see Sac making that deal BUT IF THEY DID, I'd like to try flipping PP with Jordan to Atlanta for Smith (lets them move Horford to PF where he belongs) and an expiring deal if possible (need some contract from Atlanta to balance the $).

rondo, lee, Green, Smith, Cousins would be a heckuva young lineup to throw at anyone.  size, athleticism and defense to play with anyone.

My thoughts on Cousins has been the team that signs him to the max contract he'll surely get will probably be really screwed, while the team that signs him to the (likely lesser) contract that he gets after this one will probably be in decent shape. People look at his age and numbers and act like they're looking at the next Shaq or Howard level of big man. I don't think that's very likely.

This might make getting Jordan in the KG trade that much more valuable. We can offer the Kings a replacement big who is decent along with other pieces. That is assuming they want a big in return to replace Cousins.

That's a risk you take.

Even if Cousins doesn't pan out, his trade value is still high, and any team would throw a max deal at him if they feel he can contribute to their contention.

I hope DA trades PP/Jordan for Josh Smith with some trade exceptions, so we can get cap space. Then try to trade Sullinger/ our draft picks, and Bradley for Cousins.

Rondo/Shooter/Green/Smith/Cousins.

Yet again, I'll say one more time. Doesn't that seem like a contender in a year? If we pick him up, I don't see why that wouldn't pique the interest of a coach who'd love to become a championship coach in a year or two. Rondo at 30 is still better than the top 15 point guards in the league.

That would be a thing of beauty.  Go, Danny!

I highly doubt he's the next Howard or Shaq.  But could he be the next Zach Randolph or Rasheed Wallace?

I think so, yeah.
