Not sure how prudent this idea is (or if it's even feasible) - mainly because we would get DeAndre Jordan in the swap.
However - if we got the 2013/2014 first rounders from LAC, and Jordan, could we put together a package - whether it included Jordan or not - to get the #1 overall pick to take Noel?
Upside: Noel is a [dang] beast
Downside: We would have two players coming off an ACL tear. Though Noel seems to have a TON of upside.
... or would it be best to keep Jordan and pay more attention to the 2014 draft instead?
Thoughts?
teams can't trade #1 picks in consecutive years (Ted Stepien rule).
If they wait until after the draft to trade the rights to a player, they could do that.
the current info I'm hearing from other threads is that the second pick is a few years out (2016/2017) which is good for us since the Clips should be sliding back to mediocrity or lotto land by then. Hoping that Danny makes sure there's no protection on that later pick too -- would suck to have that pick roll over into a second rounder if Clips go in the tank to the point where it would always be protected.
As for the first pick, I'm hoping for next year. I think the Clips will still be picking late, like this year, but with a deeper draft, I would hope a better caliber of player to be available at that point. also, without that pick this year, our team would figure to be a little worse and maybe move up a slot or two in the draft rankings towards a shot at a franchise cornerstone-caliber of player next year.
