Not sure how prudent this idea is (or if it's even feasible) - mainly because we would get DeAndre Jordan in the swap.

However - if we got the 2013/2014 first rounders from LAC, and Jordan, could we put together a package - whether it included Jordan or not - to get the #1 overall pick to take Noel?

Upside: Noel is a [dang] beast

Downside: We would have two players coming off an ACL tear. Though Noel seems to have a TON of upside.

... or would it be best to keep Jordan and pay more attention to the 2014 draft instead?

Thoughts?

I don't think CLE wants to trade the #1 pick. Could be wrong, though.

It would probably take Rondo to get the #1.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Even with this being a questionable draft, trading the number one pick for anything less than a bonafide star is something a team can't do - especially the Cavs, who are really starting to bulid something.

I bet  ....Trade has already gone though .......its just waiting on OK from STERN

the announcement to wait till after the game /tommorrow so as not to upstage his wonderful playoff

I think of it more as a nothing trade.... they want everything we got ..Except Rondo ,   Just destroying the Celtics from the ground up , about what Lakers face if DH leaves .

Only diff is LA has sun, fun and Hollywood glamor will easily attract the big names and in 1-2 years they'll be back on top.

Noel is a dream.  An't happen

Maybe  tank -job Vinnie del can take the Celtics down to the basement for a 15 win season or three and the Celtics can get a chance at a BIG man to build around.

teams can't trade #1 picks in consecutive years (Ted Stepien rule).

If they wait until after the draft to trade the rights to a player, they could do that.

the current info I'm hearing from other threads is that the second pick is a few years out (2016/2017) which is good for us since the Clips should be sliding back to mediocrity or lotto land by then.  Hoping that Danny makes sure there's no protection on that later pick too -- would suck to have that pick roll over into a second rounder if Clips go in the tank to the point where it would always be protected.

As for the first pick, I'm hoping for next year.  I think the Clips will still be picking late, like this year, but with a deeper draft, I would hope a better caliber of player to be available at that point.  also, without that pick this year, our team would figure to be a little worse and maybe move up a slot or two in the draft rankings towards a shot at a franchise cornerstone-caliber of player next year.

Downside also is he (Noel) has no real offensive game and since you'll already have Jordan wiht somewhat similar ability, why?  Plus when you add in that it's his 2nd knee surgery?  Just say no...

Noel's a big risk.  I'd rather just move up to the top 4 or 5 for Oladipo, or even combine the C's and Clips' pick just to get high enough so that in combination with Dallas's #13 (from a Pierce trade), they can real in Schroeder and Adams.

It'd probably take Rondo, but Cleveland has the #1 pick and they already have Kyrie so it's unlikely. Not that I'd want Noel anyway. Way overrated in my opinion.

206 Lbs of Noel, no thanks!   Too fragile and skinny without Durant level skills.

  • Derrick Rose is year-to-year
I think if Cleveland moves down it wouldnt want to fall as far back.
I think the dream scenario for them is to move back just far enough to still get porter to go with irving and waiters, but still get another asset for backing out of the first overall spot
CB Draft: Golden State Warriors - 14.23
PG: Bledsoe/Lin/ Harris
SG: Beal/ Henderson/ Ingram
SF: Winslow/McDermott/
PF: Turner/ Acy / Hernangomez
C: Adams/ Turner/ McRoberts
