Ok so we all know Bass Terry Lee are the 3 contracts that we would like to get rid of correct? I really don't see much happening with these 3 till maybe the trade deadline next year. Terry can go to a contending team that needs a 3pt threat off the bench. Lee Bass we maybe stuck with.

I personally don't think Lee is a bad contract, but it seems I'm likely in the minority on this.

Bass isn't a bad contract, only 2 years left . Still would move all 3 for expiring contracts though...

You're not alone. Bass's contract also isn't AWFUL. Terry's is the real failure.

IMO, their values are as follows:
Lee: 5mil
Bass: 4mil
Terry: vet min

I agree with you I dont think Bass and Lee are bad contracts. But if we can dump them this year to free up room for 2014 that would be great.

If we're rebuilding we should be looking to take on contracts. Something like the Portland deal, but in reverse, where they got #7 for taking Raef. That's what we should be looking for.

I like Bass more than Lee or Terry.  I think he is worth more than the other two.  I think Bass and Terry have trade value at the deadline for playoff teams that want veteran help.  I think Bass makes a lot of sense for a team like New Jersey that could use some floor spacing.  An Eastern Conference playoff team which needs perimeter shooting and someone they can use to guard Lebron and Carmelo, basically.

Next season, Bass and Terry become expiring contracts.  I can see a scenario where Bass, Terry, Sullinger, and draft picks are used as a package to trade for a big contract guy.

Lee plus Chinese guys and draft considerations is the package I would dangle for a Paul Millsap sign-and-trade.

Lee's contract is bad based on his terrible last season, but based on the rest of his career and potential it's really not.

EDIT: Wow, didn't realize Courtney shot a career high last year.  Sure didn't feel like it.

EDIT: Wow, didn't realize Courtney shot a career high last year.  Sure didn't feel like it.

But his three-point percentage was down a bit.  Jason Terry shot at around the same percentages he has the past few seasons.  For both players, they just took markedly fewer shots than they have in the past.

They're both useful, but neither guy should be taking minutes away from Avery Bradley and Doc Rivers's system may not have been ideal for either.  Terry, in particular, seems like a bad fit and felt like Ainge trying to push Doc into making offensive changes that Doc didn't want to do.

if bass were cool with backing up sully and played like he did the previous year i'd love him on team, pick and pops, good ft and good defense
terry we don't need
lee i think due to age we should keep, if by chance we trade bradley then lee is a must (not as a starter though)
shed enough salary we can really go after free agents

Even in a down year though, Lee still shot 37% which is still very good and places him in the same ballpark as Joe Johnson and slightly better than JJ Redick.

I think in general, it's not entirely fair to judge the performance of our SG's when we lost our only PG half way through the season. Of course they're going to struggle.

I also hated how Doc jerked rotations and roles around constantly throughout the year. Hopefully whoever our new coach is has clear defined roles. Would be a breath of fresh air for a lot of our players I'm sure...

Bass and Lee aren't bad deals, they just didn't perform up to them last year.  it was a down year for both.

JET on the other hand is a wasted roster spot without KG and PP around.  don't need him around for 2 years taking the space of someone who might be able to put up similar numbers on a mediocre/bad team.

I suspect we'll have all 3 on the team this year and maybe be able to move 1 or 2 of them next year as expiring deals to a team looking for a vet bench player.

Not sure what you mean here?  But it sounds interesting.

For my part, someone like Terry has negative value.  We might need to give a team one of the Clipper's picks for another team to take Terry (in exchange for an expiring contract).

Is this what you are talking about?

Terry and Lee should get more minutes and shots with Rondo out at the beginning and Pierce and KG gone.

Bass will get more shots too.

None of them are cap killer deals.

In all fairness, we also acquired Telfair in that deal and he was supposed to be as good any #7 pick we would have chosen [and look what has happened to Roy, Marcus Williams, and Foye - to an extent]...besides, that was the draft where we bought the rights to Rondo.

I don't think Terry is so bad that we will have to give away a pick to get rid of him. He still makes sense for a contending team. Our problem was that we were never contending.
