And by the way, have people forgotten how old KG is?  If he goes to the Clippers and then suffers any kind of serious injury, it wouldn't be hard for them to wind up in the lottery next year.

I'm not sure about this.  I don't think DeAndre Jordan is the difference between a 56 win Clippers team and the lottery.

The Houston Rockets got the last playoff spot in the West this year with 45 wins.  Behind them were two teams that finished .500 or better.  If they get KG and he gets injured next season, the starting center for the Clippers would be Ryan Hollins, Ronny Turiaf or some other player like that they pick up off the garbage pile.  So yeah, if the Clippers had to play without either KG or DeAndre, winding up in the lottery would not at all be out of the question.

Danny and Wyc have lost their minds.

Release Rivers from his contract, if you want.

But this player trade is absolute garbage, reflective of the fact that Ainge - who apparently wants Jordan enough to firebomb the franchise for years now - wasn't smart enough to take him over the inept J.R. Giddens five years ago.

So, Ainge has had his chance. He needs to walk away from this madness. Now.

... So we should just keep everyone's contracts - pay lux tax - have another mediocre season - and let everyone walk away with nothing to gain in return?

Glad you're not running the team buddy

Guys, Jordan could become a star...

Quote
Jordan hasn't been able to live up to the pressure of his lucrative contract to date. Many believe he was retained in L.A. due to his close relationship (at the time) with Blake Griffin. The script has been flipped out in "Tinsel Town," and Jordan no longer appears to be in the long-term plans of the Clippers even if the trade with the Celtics falls through. The Clippers have many talented offensive weapons on their roster, and Jordan just isn't someone they rely on.

However, if Jordan is moved to Boston he would have all the opportunity he has desired to prove he is more than a dunker and poor free-throw shooter. Boston would hope to be getting the rebounder and shot-blocker it has been missing for years with his arrival. In just 24.5 minutes per game last season, Jordan averaged 8.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. Assuming he could stay out of foul trouble in Boston, he could potentially average a double-double and over two blocks with an increase in minutes closer to 36 or so per game.

The Celtics would likely become more of a transition-orientated team if this trade did occur, which clearly plays to Jordan's strengths. He scores primarily on offensive rebounds, lobs, and fastbreak opportunities. There is little doubt he would be a great target for Rajon Rondo if Boston elected to play at a faster pace.

Conversely, there would be a steep learning curve in the half-court offense, as Rondo is known for knocking people out with passes who aren't paying attention in traffic and Jordan hasn't shown the highest basketball I.Q. Despite his impressive size, he doesn't have much of a post presence offensively. He also lacks any recognizable form of a jumper, connecting on just 25 percent of his shots outside of the paint last season. The Celtics would go from having a player with a wide assortment of post moves and jumpers in Garnett to the very limited skill set of Jordan if the trade was completed.

Then there is the issue of Jordan's atrocious free-throw shooting percentage of just 38 percent. Boston has traditionally played a lot of close games in recent years. The Celtics could ill-afford to have Jordan out there clanging free throws off the rim when it is crunch time. Somehow Jordan would have to gain a more respectable touch from the line, or he would find himself benched in the closing minutes of games like he has been in L.A.

Still with all the doom and gloom, Jordan is a terrific athlete with potential. The old cliche of "You can't teach size or athleticism" applies perfectly to the 6-foot-11 inch center. While the move would signify the end of a spirited Boston era that fell somewhat short of expectations, it would hopefully ignite the career of Jordan.

That tradeoff might not seem fair to Boston fans, but it might be the best they can get under the circumstances.

If DA doesn't think a trade is fair for the Celtics, he won't take it.  I think he will look for other suitors to shop KG and Pierce around, if need be.  I just don't think running it back is a good option going forward.  LAC is trying to get KG and Doc for Jordan and a draft pick, which will most likely be in the mid to high 20's.  That's def a low-ball offer.  If they want to keep Bledsoe then fine, but they should suck it up and absorb either JET or Lee's contract.  I understand you want to get as much as you can without giving out too much, but something's gotta give...Hopefully it won't be DA...

A low-ball offer to me would be Caron Butler and a couple of second-round picks.

I've explained in other spots why I feel Jordon is worse than giving KG away so I won't do that again.  But if the option is KG retiring before July 1st or at any point next year, you jump all over that.  It helps us infinitely more than Jordon for two years who I'd argue is actually a negative to both our team and our salary cap.

But KG wants to play. He wants the 20 million dollars he's signed up for.
Do we cut him and pay him his money while getting nothing?
Or do we let him go play for a trophy after everything he's done for our organization and the assets he'll net us in return in the process?
I'm not saying one or the other is right, but it's a tough spot to be in.
6 months ago we thought 'KG has a no trade clause- he will retire and the only real asset we'll have is Pierce's expiring deal'.
Why not let him go play ball for 2 more years and get something potentially good for our future in Jordan and his potential? Not to mention the two draft picks.
What would be funny is if they did this trade and then CP3 left or KG got injured. Those late first rounders just turned into 10-20 picks lol.

If KG is happy playing with the Celtics, I am happy watching him.

If he wants to move on, he will have to be willing to waive his no-trade offer with a team that offers at least a decent deal.
Do you just want an expiring contract for him?

Yes, absoluely.

An expiring contract and a pick would be a better return.

I don't think you're grasping the idea of asset management. Not at all.
