I hate the deal of Jordan and a pick or two but this is a franchise and fanbase that was adamant about not evening trading Corey Maggette for Pierce, let alone Magic 2.0 Livingston.

Remarkable with them. Shocked they gave up Gordan to get CP3 in the first place. They're remarkably stingy absolutely everywhere.

I'm not sure it will be tonight: Bargaining over whatever continues. #Clippers trying to tell #Celtics they'll walk away and hire Brian Shaw

MarkHeisler

If I were Ainge, while whoever he is dealing with is on speaker, I'd tell the secretary to order flowers, have them sent to Brian Shaw, and have the message on them say, "Congratulations on your new head coach job with the Clippers.  Good luck with Chris Paul."

Can someone please explain the Salary Cap implications, Please?

Garnett Pierce and say Lee exit via trade or buyout and the Celts obtain only Jordan at 10 million per, Team should have enough payroll to make a run at JSmith AJefferson or Millsap NO?

How did the Heat do it?
By having a lot more cap space.

The NBA salary cap is ~$58 million. The Celtics payroll is $73 million next season.  Garnett, Pierce, and Lee make $32 million, Jordan and Butler make $19, not accounting for Jordan's trade kicker. So for next year, the cap implications are pretty much squat.

GEEZUS!
minus Jordan Butler  at 41 million, seems to me outside of Rondo/Green there are more than a few players making way to much, No?
No.

Minus Rondo and Green, you have 10 players making a total of perhaps $20 million. The average salary in the NBA is ~$5-6 million. You do the math.

At this point I'd be tempted to do the same, maybe send a bouquet to CP3 saying "good luck trying to get past the Spurs and Thunder with the same cast of characters you've led into the playoffs the last two years".

Let's say it all breaks down. Does KG after agreeing to be traded to LA, re evaluates things and is willing to go to another team? That would likely bring us a much higher return.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Who is going to give us a higher return for Garnett?

there aren't many other teams looking to trade for KG at his age and salary. They are all looking to shed salaries and make a run at Dwight Howard or the next free agent class

If they want to do that then Danny needs to tell them bye.

This is why the Clippers will stay the Clippers.

Without looking at who we could get, I'd say contenders who think they're close might, such as the Bulls, the Knicks, even the Nuggets or the like. Maybe even the Thunder.
