Then why did Doc tell the Clippers not to include Bledsoe in the proposed deal? If he did.

Off this subject, slightly, but a topic I haven't see addressed is KG's ankles.  His ankles were hurting him a lot toward the end of the season/playoffs, and probably affected his play a good bit. If he's got chips floating around in there they aren't going to magically "get well" just by resting them. It's going to take surgery (re: Ray Allen) to fix the problem. KG hasn't had the surgery, said he doesn't plan to have the surgery, but if he's playing next year he's going to need the surgery. What gives?

Was he possibly planning to eventually have it, just later after the season starts? He'd miss some (all) of the season while he's recovering if he does this. Is this shades of Pierce in 2007? If Pierce is gone, KG is on medical leave most of the season, and Rondo is not back until January (or later) the C's would crater next year. They wouldn't have to try to lose games, they just would. I wonder if that was a plan C, D or E?

I mean you could have just signed for a 2 year contract if you didn't want to go through a rebuild? You could have said no to that clause disallowing you to coach another team if you weren't ALL IN with the Celtics. What gives..I'm a huge fan and all but I just don't get it...

maybe danny told him one plan at the time of the signing, and danny isnt holding up his side of the proposal.  doc has said every year he re-evaluates after each season.  shouldn't be a surprise he is doing it again this year.  he isn't going to coach the celts forever, so the day would eventually come when he may leave

I'd love to actually hear from Doc, Danny, and KG soon.  This whole thing seems to have gotten out of hand, and I want to hear from the proverbial "horses mouths" before I jump to gigantic conclusions about motive and desire on the part of any of the key players in this soap opera.

Dude it's simple.  Boston wants to tank.  Doc doesn't want to coach a team trying to lose.

I doubt we'll be tanking next season.  As a matter of fact, I predict the Celtics will be back in the playoffs for the 2014 season.

I think the soap opera is more on the blog than in reality.  I'll eat my words if some dramatic, nasty stuff emerges at a later date.

That's my take, as well.

Doc's 5 year contract with the C's has a "Non compete clause", meaning for the duration of the contract, he wouldn't be able to coach an NBA team. He could go to broadcasting and any other field but he can"t coach any other NBA team until his contract expires.
At least it gives Danny a little more control over any trade (not that anyone actually wants Doc)

"not that anyone actually wants Doc" goes against absolutely everything we've heard or seen on the subject.

It's totally supported by the opinions of 90% of this forum. Everybody here is saying "fire doc!"; wasn't there just a thread on it yesterday? The hate levels are so high that no team would ever want him. (according to you guys)

First of all, you said "you guys" when you meant "us guys". Secondly, your 90% number is far from accurate. Thirdly, what does the opinion of some people here (even if it's a majority) have to do with reality?

No, I mean you guys because I don't really care about Doc. Everyone else appears to be vehemently against him and obviously, you guys think your opinions count. And I'm willing to bet that if many of the people here hate Doc here, there's gotta be at least one person in the Clippers organization who also hates him. How can a coach be hated by a huge majority of his own fanbase yet get welcomed into another team which would give up two first-round draft picks for him? No way!

If everyone here thinks Doc is a perfect coach and wants to keep him, then so be it. There's a reason 44 people didn't want him back. Why should the Clippers want this "scrub coach" for 7mil/yr?

I don't think "there's gotta be at least one person in the Clippers organization who also hates him" and "not that anyone actually wants Doc" really mean the same thing. Also, the board's somewhat split on Doc, the people aren't all vehemently opposed to him. Nor do they all think he's a perfect coach. There are tons of people here who all have different opinions of Doc, the extremes in opinion you're looking for aren't really there for the group as a whole.

i've lost ALOT of respect for Doc during this whole situation...he signed a 5year deal WELL knowing that rebuilding would happen. heck, he even talked about being ready to go through it when he signed that deal.

in turn, Wyc made him the highest paid coach in the NBA. now that we are nearing that rebuilding point hes going "hey I want to jump ship and go to a contender" which likely also means pierce/KG retire

if Doc made his intentions to Wyc when he signed that deal that he only wanted to coach a contending team, then fine. But to sign that deal and want to bail when the going gets tough?

I dont blame ainge for trying to see what he can get.

I would suggest that there have been only a handful of persisent Doc bashers on these pages since the KG era began.  Some posters are critical of Doc from time to time, but I think most either don't comment on him at all or are positive about at least some aspect(s) of his coaching. In fact, a number of CB posters have been unabashed Doc supporters.   I, for one, like the guy and think he has been a great coach for this team.
