Shaking my head... PJ wasn't a bad coach, don't know why you would fire him...

You're going to hire a coach who has no experience? I would say Jason Kidd is an amazing point guard, but has no coaching experience on his belt to instantly change the Nets playing style. At best, he's very close and friendly with D-Will so maybe chemistry is there to allow them to work closely together.

I agree that they should have kept PJ.

Kidd is an interesting pick.  Not a bad one in my opinion, though I do think they should have sat him on the bench as an assistant for a couple of years before they just handed him the keys.  But his BBIQ is unquestioned and he's known as a good teammate.  Maybe he can bring this Nets group together.

I AGREE  .... PJ is a super basketball coach.......but he maybe a POOR baby sitter or wet nurse for the ego 's of the older players /stars.

Kidd won't last one year .   That franchise has ZERO patience.   Not that he isn't capable , he needs to be a assistant for a couple years to learn the ropes.

Can't believe a team like the Nets who have zero patience, fired him despite the lengthy and overrated contracts they have.

I guess they ran out of cap space to pay off PJ.

Oh wait.

I'm not a huge fan of PJ, but I'm skeptical about Kidd working out for a win now team. That team's window is now and can't afford Kidd growing into the job.

He was an assistant promoted to interim coach, its not like ownership was ever behind him.

If they need a backup PG in a pinch, old #5 might dress up...but with NO coaching experience, this is bad
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Unless you're Tommy or Bill Russell.

I don't see Kidd being able to undo the apathy that's set in in brooklyn, though.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Now that they've found their new head coach, Brooklyn needs to concentrate on improving their supporting cast and putting some defensively able big men around Brook Lopez and their backcourt scorers.

If they don't upgrade the roster, Kidd isn't going to be able to do much more there than the last two coaches did. I do expect Kidd to do a good job with what he is given to work with but at the end of the day, it's the ability or inability to upgrade that supporting cast that is going to define the Nets chances next season.

I don't see how they'll be able to do that though. Dwight's opt-in really ruined a very good plan for their franchise.

Big expiring contract in Kris Humphries to dangle.

They have one major hand left to play. Might go their way. Might not. Have to wait and see.

Yeah, no experience is bad.

Tell that to Mark Jackson.

I love it. He may not be a an experienced drawing board coach, but one thing for certain is the players will listen to him as he's very respected. He's a leader (just like Mark Jackson), and everyone on the team, Deron include will follow to what J-Kidd's vision is (whatever it is).
