Yeah, no experience is bad.
Tell that to Mark Jackson.
I love it. He may not be a an experienced drawing board coach, but one thing for certain is the players will listen to him as he's very respected. He's a leader (just like Mark Jackson), and everyone on the team, Deron include will follow to what J-Kidd's vision is (whatever it is).
Mark Jackson
(1) took 7 years off between playing and coaching
(2) was an analyst
(3) led the team to 23-43 last year
(4) wasn't fired
(5) currently leads the Warriors, who weren't supposed to be this good
Kidd
(1) takes off one summer
(2) is not an analyst
(3) cannot afford to lead the team to anything less than the ECF
(4) will be fired if he doesn't
(5) leads the Nets, who need to win. and now.
Net's ain't no rebuilding team no more.
Mark's 7 years off and analyst gig did not make him the good coach that he is, otherwise Kurt Rambis would have been good since he did the same thing. Mark Jackson has the mind already and there's also another quality in him that makes him a great coach. Mark is a leader, his x's and o's may not be as good as Pop's or Doc's but his players trust him, respects him and is willing to play for him and trust him that he can lead them to wins. Kidd is is no different.
Jason Kidd is a very brilliant floor general and basketball player so there's some basketball knowledge there. But what separates him from the others is his unquestioned leadership. If Jason says this and that will happen, his players will believe him and will play the way Jason wants them to. His leadership can convince players that they can do much better if he says so.
And the Nets are not pushovers, they have the talent to win NOW. And with a leader navigating the way, there's no reason why they can't win now.
