Saw that he turned down the kings gm job after giving it some consideration

Quote
Hall of Fame forward Larry Bird, who discussed the Kings’ general manager vacancy with new owner Vivek Ranadive and was said to be at least mildly intrigued, told team officials he is no longer interested.

Bird sat out the 2012-13 season and is considering a return to the Indiana Pacers – where he has an open invitation to resume his role as the team’s top basketball executive – or to extend his sabbatical for personal and health reasons.

via Ailene Voisin of The Sacramento Bee

If Doc leaves , any chance we can get Larry ? I highly doubt it because of his health concerns and if Doc leaves , we are probably losing KG and PP too.

Just think it would be cool to see.

don't see him as coach because of health ,   but I would not totally rule out him becoming a GM /owner type .......it's the only real goal he has left , to be a part another Celtic championship team  , sorta like a Pat Riley .

he is the reason IMO Pacers are what they are today.

he could do as much for the Celtics Ina few years.

if Doc leaves,  I fire DA and hire Larry .

I think it would be cool to see, and I'm sure they will offer him the position, but I think he might be more interested in the executive role than the coaching role due to all the traveling.

If Doc stepped down because he didn't want to be a part of a rebuilding project, and wanted to spend time with his family, maybe Danny will just become the coach and the gm until he returns.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Best for the team would probably be for Larry to come in as team president and part-owner and for Danny to either stay as GM or slip in to coaching the rebuild for a year or two before sliding back into the GM role.

Somehow I think if Danny had wanted to work with him, Larry would have been invited in sooner.  I've been surprised that ownership hasn't made more of an effort in that direction as well.   If Doc leaves, they could conceivably be more interested in risking losing Danny if Danny isn't with the plan.

For the ownership

1. fire DA. 2.Hire Larry Bird as GM. 3 ask Doc if he likes to come back. 4 If Doc denies, sing Jerry Sloan or Van Gundy

Ugh.  I hadn't even contemplated that Doc's act might be an attempt to get Danny fired.  Not only is that too ugly to consider, but it is also much more likely that Doc's simply trying to protect his won/loss record by getting the C's to let him go coach a better team.

I sure hope so.

I can't think of a more fitting person to help bring the Celtics back to another championship then Larry Bird.

The man knows the sport, inside and out.

If he was willing to coach the Celts, great.

If he was interested in becoming the GM, even better.

I am sure, if the ownership will continue with DA, after 1-2 season without KG+PP Cs will finish like Detroit Pistons. Firing DA is now imperative step, and if the ownership get larry Bird, this team might have e great future.

I hope that at the end of this era, wyc decides to go in a different direction.
Mchale coach.
Bird GM.
With a new big three.
That will be a logical path and a way to give new hope to the fans.
