Please don't leave any opinion on the Doc situation.
If he is gone, then who is the best candidate for the job?
Also keep in mind if Doc is gone then KG and Pierce are likely both gone too, so it's probably rebuild/re-tool time.

Stan Van Gundy or Nate McMillan for me...although they'd prefer playoff teams.

Any young up and comers we can roll the dice on?

Lawrence Frank would be my number 1 option.

Larry Bird is up there but I dont think he wants to coach.

Jason Kidd could be an interesting choice if brooklyn doesnt take him. If KG retires, KG can coach  ;D

Other backups are Jerry Sloan, Scott skiles, and Larry Brown if he wants to leave SMU.

Do not want Franks. Would want Shaw, either of the Van Gundy's, or Bird.

what makes you think Jason Kidd can coach?

TP for getting my post done for me. ;D

SVG has gone on the record saying he won't coach this season. Not that that's a binding statement of course.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

The Celtics know that nothing is cast in stone, not even an executed written contract. I think we should try and lure Mark Jackson to Boston.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
George Karl if Doc is gone I don't think KG and Pierce come back. That means we will have a team that will need to run, to win, that's Karl's style.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

It'll never happen of course but if Doc decides to retire, I would love Ainge to coach.  Sort of a clean up your mess type deal in a way but he was also a fantastic coach in Phoenix.  I trust that he's a better coach than Doc.

In my fantasy, Doc decides to take a sabbatical, Ainge steps down from his current position to coach and a GM who values ballhandling, rebounding and shooting takes over the reins of this franchise.  Heck, I don't know if Mike Zarren is that guy but I wouldn't mind giving him a try over Ainge.  I'll be happy like a clam.

Shaw. Van gundy. I haven't seen share coach that much, but he does seem like he would make a good coach. I believe he coached the lakers for a few games when Phil Jackson took a leave of absence.

That'd be awesome Rondo/Green in a George Karl system  ;D

No ones blaming Doc for anything. I love Doc. Sad truth is he may leave, especially if KG and Pierce arent around.
Just an interesting thought to see who be a good fit after him.
