I don't really follow the college / draft scene much, but I was just looking through the metrics data and came across the profile for Colton Iverson.
We obviously have a dire need for a center with legit big man size and a proper big man game. The guy looks like an imposing physical presence at 7'0" / 263 lbs / 10% body fat. Looking at the guy he looks strong as an ox...actually reminds me a bit of Darko in terms of his build.
In terms of skill set, according to the scounting reports he's an excellent rebounder, a good passer and a capable inside scorer.
In terms of intangibles has reportedly is a hard worker, has a high IQ and shows a strong desire to win.
The only significant downsides I see listed are that he's a poor free throw shooter (59%), not supremely athletic, and that he's relatively old for a prospect (24).
Now looking at all the information this guy doesn't sound like someone with the potential to be the next superstar, but is he a guy who could contribute to the Celtics
right now? Under KG's wing, could he develop into a solid role player or a decent starting big (a Samuel Dalembert type)?
Also is he a guy who would be available to us?
Again I don't follow the college scene so sorry if I'm off track, I only know what I see in the scouting report and this guy sounds like exactly the type of guy we could use in an emergency (i.e. Ryan Hollins / Jason Collins) backup center role right now.
Also I'm, intrigued by his reputation as a hard worker, good passer and a high IQ guy. Sounds like a guy who fit very well with Sullinger in the future.
Hoping somebody else can provide some more insightful feedback!
