So I'm working with an account executive to purchase season tickets right now. Center balc, row 3, seats close to the aisle. Seems like a great opportunity.

However, being busy and such - I know I will not go to all of the games. So season ticket holders - do you have luck with selling your tickets to interested parties on games that you do not attend? How much effort does it take? Do you sell them for face value for games against teams such as the Wizards? I probably won't get them if not because I can't consciously waste thousands of dollars on games I know I can't/won't attend.

Thanks for your input

I have heard that during the Prime Big 3 years people could get face or even a little more on stubhub and the like, but over the past few years have had trouble selling tickets period, (not just for a small loss)   If I were you I would purchase with a few friends so you can divide up the tickets.

I had season tickets up until this past year, when I didn't renew.  One of the reasons I didn't renew was because it was becoming more and more of a hassle to unload tickets to games I didn't want to go to.

One thing I would recommend thinking about though, is the value of giving tickets as gifts.  When I couldn't go to games, I would try to sell them, but if that didn't happen quickly, I would usually end up giving them to friends or relatives.

Unfortunately, it is not the most frugal way to do things, since I wouldn't take their money (unless they had come to me asking to buy tickets), but they were always very grateful.

If you don't mind me asking, how much are they asking for for the season tickets?

Just gave up my season tix after many years because I am relocating out of the area...otherwise I would have renewed.

I have had very good luck selling unused tickets to friends and colleagues at face value. Mixed results on Stub Hub.  Now, with NBATickets.com it is very easy and safe to sell tickets. Usually got face or a little under for not-so-good games, and better than face for decent opponents. It averages out.

Here's a thought. Ask your account rep about 1/2 season plans.

It really depends on the team they're playing and the day of the week.

If the Celts are playing a big market team like the Heat, Lakers, Knicks, etc, it's very easy to sell them at face value and you can probably make a profit.

BUT, vs the lower level teams like the Wizards, Bobcats, etc, it is quite difficult to receive equal value.

Sometimes, another big factor is also the day of the week.

Even if it's a bad team, if the game happens to fall on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, that makes it easier to sell.

However, if it's a weekday game vs the lottery teams of the NBA, there's a good chance you'll end up getting lower than face value for the ticket, if anything at all.

To make a long story short, I've had to eat some money since I got season tixs in 2010. That's why I then went from a full season to a half season.

Also, the site I usually sell my tickets on is the NBA ticket exchange site.

How do you usually let everyone know? There's got to be an effective way to get the word out as opposed to sending dozens of texts a few nights before a game comes up that I don't want to go to.

I'm thinking that if I decide in advance which games I do not want to attend, and get the tickets up on the NBA site early, I may have a better shot at unloading tix to games I don't want to go to.

Have any of you ever sold tickets via these forums to other CB members?

one other drawback to selling tickets to games you don't / can't go to --> the team's effort in the regular season has been lackluster to say the least. It has hurt sales in general and thus ticket-resale.  I would suspect that if they run back the same team, you'll have that same issue continuing this year.

I did a couple times, and actually that worked very well.  When I couldn't get more than face value elsewhere, I would post in the ticket section here, and sell them to a fan at face value, who I knew would appreciate them.

One could also argue that if KG and Pierce return, along with Rondo back + healthy Sullinger + Green emerging, this team may be surprise us all. I suspect JET will do better also. Who knows
