Stiemsma's fate in Minnesota is tied to whether or not they can retain Pekovic, who they draft, and how new management/coaching feels about ex-Celtic Chris Johnson.
I think he demonstrated in Minnesota that he is an adequate backup who probably should be playing in the 10-15mpg range and doesn't have the upside to be a starter. He's a role player who accepts being a role player and seems to be more comfortable with having a bit of an enforcer mentality.
The T-Wolves were hit so hard by injury that they were granted a temporary 16th roster spot. That meant he probably had to play in some lineups that didn't suit his strengths and weaknesses. If he can come in, play with some energy, block shots, get some rebounds, and hit a 15-footer often enough that defenses have to respect him, that's a player that deserves a spot in the NBA, but he's also a player who can't just step into any team but needs a good fit with a coach/system.
