Boston has a clear need for bigs, and many CBers have justifiably focused on Gorgui Dieng, Steven Adams, and Jeff Withey, but I can't recall seeing a mention of Bucknell's Mike Muscala.

According to DraftExpress, he seems to have fewer weaknesses than many of the other top college centers (in his case, he needs to bulk up, and the NBA will be quite a step up from Patriot League competition), and a lot of strengths, including defense, rebounding, length, size, and scoring ability.

What do you guys think of him?
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

I'm intrigued particularly if he is available with an easy to acquire 2nd round pick.

He seems to have skills and a good work ethic. Good rebounder. Very good free throw shooter who's aggressive with the ball.

I like him a lot.  Doesn't have the same "upside" as the others being discussed in the first round.  But I like his game.

to be honest, i am not sure muscala is as good as shavlik randolph. not sure why the celtics should draft for height when tall marginal players with nba experience abound.

i trust ainge to do well this draft and not draft strictly on need, but for the bpa.

I think his skill set is beyond any big man coming out. Problem with Muscala is the level of competition that he played against and that skill set, while good, may not translate in the NBA because he is physically out matched.

I said this before already, and I will say it again. He was completely shut down by a kid named Andrew Smith, from Butler. A kid who's not even getting ANY draft attention pushed Muscala out of position most of the game (NCAA Tournametn 13 First Round), kept him out of the paint and completely physically outplayed him.

I'm not sure I'd give up the #16 for him, but since we don't have a 2nd rounder, I guess it's safe to pass on him and hope he goes undrafted (if we really want him) and acquire him them. He definitely has the skills but has a ton of work to do physically.
