I thought you were serious until you said "Vinny Del Negro."

Then I realized you had to be joking.

Is it just us (Celtic fans) who overreact this way??? Fire an up and coming coach who got his team to improve over the past few years because he lost to the best player in the game? I feel like it's just us.

Agree with this.

While I do think it was a mistake to sit Hibbert in the final possession of Game 1, you can't just point at one mistake and use it as evidence that a coach should be fired.  Every coach will make mistakes from time to time.  Overall, Vogel is a very good coach.  Indiana has no depth, no point guard and is missing an All-Star SF, yet they were one win away from the NBA Finals.  He deserves a lot of credit for that.

They need a real coach such as Vinny Del Negro or Lionel Hollins to take that next step.

Vinny Del Negro?

Not sure how I'm supposed to take this seriously.  Del Negro is terrible.

Meh.  If Miami has proven anything these past couple years... it's that they have an on/off switch.  They let the Pacers take them 6 last year when they had no business taking them to 6.  They let a mediocre Boston team take a 3-2 lead over them before finally waking up and taking them to the cleaners.    In the regular season this year pretty much every game during their win streak involved them making a huge run in the second half to take a lead.   Our game against them was a great example... Jeff Green goes for 40+, Miami flips a switch and takes over.  Most of their games were like that.   Now in the playoffs... Indiana takes it to 7... was there any doubt Miami was going to wipe the floor with them?

You can't blame Vogel... it's just Miami's style.  They flip the switch when they need to.

The NBA flipped their switch with the foul calls too.   I knew and called it that their bigs would be in foul trouble, all too easily to predict in Stern's Era.

Kind of. LBJ was 8-8 at the half... but as a team Miami was 12-13 to the Pacers 6-12.

I think the Heat definitely chucked themselves at Hibbert a lot more frequently this game than in games earlier, and the Pacers responded poorly.

This.

I was hoping the switch was broken, but wasn't in the least bit shocked when I saw Miami mopping the floor with Indy.

Oh cut it out, Vinny Del Negro?

Frank Vogel has done a great job with his team. If any job in Indy is in question, Vogel's job should be last on tha list. He took his young Pacers to tha ECF and pushed tha Heat to 7 games. As Chuck said, Vogel is underrated and he won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Tha Pacers just need a solid PG and better bench help.

I'm just glad this isn't another "Doc should be fired" thread.

Yeah, Vogel did a horrible  job coming one game from the Finals with a $13 million player out for almost the entire year.

Vogel is a great coach...if the pacers win game 1 it's a different series and they likely lose game 2....he did a great great job....get over yourself

Perhaps they read the script?

This game was never in doubt any time a team shoots 18 more FTAs something could be amiss.   West, Hill and Hibbert all in deep foul trouble early too.   Didn't 2 of them have 5 by the third?

We have been on the receiving end of that pattern all too often.  Multiple fouls called early so one side can't play their D and game.

Vogel ought to be safe, in my opinion.  Though taking a team to seven games in the conference finals is not that big of deal.   NBA likes seventh games so they can make the legends and hype them up.

You can't blame Vogel or the refs. The Pacers inexperience, and lack of a real point guard, did them in. They turned the ball over way too much to hope to win a game 7 in the conference finals.

naw.Vogel is a good coach,   everybody and their bother knew the Heat would show up at home court with their A Game. .  Just like the Boston series.  They got the best player and he takes over .

Pacers need a Rondo , cP3  type point guard,   they need more experience, they panicked,  looked lost soon as the Heat started street balling them with easy baskets and fast breaks.

Pacers didn't keep control of the flow of the game.   Heat are like a pack of wolves, they jump on you soon as they see a letdown .  I knew it was over before half....Pacers let the Heat get started with their type of basketball and it was over.

Pacers also , let the crowd and moment , get tHe best of them,  instead of digging in and making a stand and matching energy , they let theHeat jump all over them.......and that was it.....game over.

Should have come out with serious intensity and pushed the heat around more.

I'm convinced that this entire thread is meant as sarcasm.

The first clue was when you said that they need a real coach like Vinny Del Negro.  But, then you completely gave it away when you suggested that part of the problem was not playing Gerald Green enough.
TP -- had me laughing pretty hard on that one.  touche

He didn't make just ONE mistake in game one.  He sat George and Hibbert for almost 6 minutes in the second quarter of last night's game LONG before they got into foul trouble.  Hibbert did NOT pick up his 3rd until he finally got in in the 2nd quarter after sitting.
