Timobusa,

That adds a lot to the discussion.

Timobusa,

That adds a lot to the discussion.

Thanks so much,

Smitty77

I cant really add much.
This thread is ridiculous.
Frank Vogel is a great coach for Indiana.
You saying he should be fired is absurd.

ps.
Vinny del Negro? Really? The coach who got fired because he can't lead a team with Chris Paul Blake Griffin Deandre Jordan and Jamal Crawford passed the first round.

Lionel Hollins? thats a stretch, Hollins is not going anywhere, he took the grizzlies to the western conference finals, thats a successful season in Memphis.

Frank Vogel took the Pacers to the Eastern Finals, took the best team in the east 7 games. He's not going anywhere.

Indiana lost Granger and took a 66 win team with the MVP and a 27 game win streak and home court advantage to 7 games.

Cue the overreaction. I'd gladly take the salary of an NBA coach but I'd hate to be one.

I'm convinced that this entire thread is meant as sarcasm.

The first clue was when you said that they need a real coach like Vinny Del Negro.  But, then you completely gave it away when you suggested that part of the problem was not playing Gerald Green enough.

Vogel cost Indy this series.  They likely would have won game one if he had NOT sat Hibbert, his only true rim protector, on two key plays late in that game.

Then, he decides to rest Hibbert and George for a key 5-6 minute stretch in the second quarter when the game was being blown open.

Indiana will NOT win a championship under Vogel's leadership.  They need a real coach such as Vinny Del Negro or Lionel Hollins to take that next step.  They don't have the talent to have a mediocre coach lead them to a title as do the Heat.

Smitty77

P.S. If Larry returns to the front office, he has to consider this very difficult FACT.

Because Vinny Del Negro and Lionel Hollins both have taken their teams to championships right?

Indy got very few points off the bench.  IF, and I understand it is a big IF, Gerald was hot, he can score points in bunches.

This is not in jest.  He really is the ONLY guy they had to score off the bench.

Now, IFFFFFFFFFFF Granger can come back and play, that changes.

Blink,

How about a Jackson or Hollins for Vogel swap??

Smitty77

I think Hollins is a good coach.  But I think Vogel got more out of a less talented lineup than Hollins did.

Why don't you just suggest that Gerald Green should coach the Pacers next year?  That is about as likely as the Pacers getting Phil Jackson.

Like some others, I am still not sure if this is a sarcastic thread or not... Vogel did a pretty good job with the Pacers this year.  He wasn't the reason they didn't advance.

But how is the Pacer's poor offensive bench Vogel's fault?  Going back to the original umm 'premise' of this thread.

Really? How about Paul George doesn't play defense like a middle school player and Lebron doesn't get a layup. Vogel is a good coach. The pacers need a PG who can actually handle the ball and pass and they will be very tough to beat.

Got it in one.

Also, for all the crap he gets, Spolestra is actually a pretty good coach, and every game Miami implemented adjustments that Indiana took a quarter or two to get accustomed to.

Particularly this last game, I don't think I've ever seen so many players flustered by double teams on one court.

Also, word from Woj is that Hollins is actually going to be bounced from the Grizzlies.

Is it just us (Celtic fans) who overreact this way??? Fire an up and coming coach who got his team to improve over the past few years because he lost to the best player in the game? I feel like it's just us.
