I doubt this is true, but if it was, I'd take Ray back.

Why not?

So he went to play in Miami?

Big deal

I don't think that's any bigger an issue/story than Danny Ainge trying to trade him.

Nobody owes anybody anything.

I disagree. I think he owed PP and KG a little something. They nixed the Ray for Mayo deal. And just to get back at Ainge, Doc and Rondo he screws his friends over?

Still wish Ainge would have done the Ray for Mayo deal.

I'd be curious to know what actually happened there.  I've heard Danny killed it, that KG/Pierce killed it, and that Mayo killed it.

Ray Allen's a snake. He wants to betray the Heat's Big 3 now...

Speaking of Ray Allen, has there been a first ballot hall of famer that didn't have his number retired by any team in the last 30 years?

Making good with Boston could put his jersey in the rafters.

Don't forget that the other deal that was almost made was Allen for Psycho T, but Ainge wanted a 1st rd pick too.

“Here’s the thing,” Bird said. “When Danny (Ainge) and I talked about trading for Ray, he wanted Tyler Hansbrough and a first-round pick. If that’s the value he’s putting on Ray Allen, he ain’t getting it. That tells me he’s in no hurry to trade him.”

If this actually happened, I'd gain a lot of respect for him...

Bird's a cheapskate. Of course you would want a 1st rounder if the only other thing coming back for Ray is Hansborough.

No thanks, I've seen what his defense looks like these days.

If this were to happen, and Miami falls shor this year, think of all the rumors that DA talked Ray to go to Miami to implode them from the inside.

I could see Allen going to Bosh and saying "you know Wade is saying....." and then to Lebron and say, "you know that Bosh is saying...." and so on.

Then Allen comes back to Boston with inside Heat knowledge.

So then in Reality Boston really beat Miami at the end of the day! BWAHAHAHAHAAH!!!

Okay not really happening, but would be really funny if that happened.

If Ray apologies like crazy, talks to KG,PP,Rondo and Doc before hand, and they are cool with it, and takes a 800,000 dollar contract, AND is okay coming off the bench. I'll be good, could have used his out side shooting this season.

BUT he's going to have to earn the green jersey!

Just what we need, another shooting guard on the roster. ;D. Say if Crawford and Lee are traded away then maybe we can talk.

Agree. Mayo had said on numerous occasions that he wanted to play with Rondo.

I'm of the opinion that Ainge killed it because of KG and Ray, and that's why KG (who seems to value loyalty the way it should be honored)felt betrayed and that's why he was so piseed off.

Pearl, Completely agree. Also, trading for Mayo could have meant no Terry, and who knows how that full MLE could've been spent!

I was bummed that Ray took less to play for a rival (not the Lakers which would be unforgivable, but a rival).   But in reading these posts it is obvious that no one knows exactly how it all transpired, nor do we know all that was in Ray's mind and heart at the time.   But still, it doesn't matter. Even worst case scenario -- that he vindictively took out his anger toward his teammates and signed for less with a rival who he secretly hoped would play and crush his former teammates in this year's first round -- I really wouldn't care.
If he really wanted back (which not only do i doubt generally but would NEVER believe he leaked prior to Game 7) and could help us, I'd be thrilled.  I've cheered for far worse people than Ray Allen (I say with minimal pride).
