On the offensive foul against Stephenson, James said, "I don't believe it was an offensive foul. I was going to set a screen, and I believe I was stationary. ... It was a couple of calls that I didn't feel like were fouls."
Others have brought up the idea of Lebron getting fined, but as I read those comments he seems to be choosing his words carefully.
He does not, anywhere, actually criticize the referees for making the *wrong* call. He merely states that his opinion was different.
To see what I'm talking about, suppose one of the refs told him during the game that it was 8:30 PM. Lebron later says "When the ref said it was 8:30, I didn't think it was 8:30, I thought it was 8:35."
Nowhere is he actually questioning whether the ref was right or not, or making an accusation of any kind.
Do any of our resident experts know whether there's an official standard here, in terms of what gets someone into trouble?
