wouldn't be a horrible pick as an investment for the future but that's just what he'd be -- an investment, not an immediate contributor
In a way I have to disagree.
He's a much better rebounder now than our previous investment named Fab Melo. He has quicker footwork and played man defense in college and knows how to rotate on defense already, he can pick up the defensive system in no time. His pick and roll defense is excellent.
He's physically NBA ready to. No way he'll be a big piece at this stage, but I think with his tools he can provide us with some 10-12 minute grind where he rebounds, sets good picks and play the pick and roll defense.
I have to agree with slamtheking. Adams is raw. He has some skills that Fab didn't have. But he is very weak on many things. He may have 'quick' footwork - but he has lousy footwork when it comes to positioning in the post. He just doesn't seem to know how to 'sit' into his opponent and control space. Someone his size should not be getting pushed out, but that happened a lot to him and mostly due to not having his CG between his feet.
He also has stone hands, and is a horrible shooter.
Now, this is not to say Adams wouldn't be a good pick. Physically, he is a fantastic specimen. He is, like Fab, relatively new to organized basketball. Given a couple of years of development, he might turn into a great NBA big man.
But right now, he is no where remotely close to NBA ready.
He would be another development project.
