So apparently Lebron didn't take kindly to Vogel saying
Quote
“It’s exciting, but this is not about getting back at Miami. If you’re in the final four you’re competing for a championship. And they’re just the next team that’s in our way. That’s how we’re approaching it.”

So Lebron's response when asked by a reporter is

Quote
“We’re not just another team. I don’t understand what he’s saying. But we’re not just another team. That’s not true. He said we’re just another team in their way. We’re a great team. If we’re just another team, you really don’t prepare for just another team. You have to prepare for us.”.... We’re ready for whatever, James told reporters Sunday. I believe it’s going to be like last series.

Maybe I'm reading Vogel's statement wrong, but I didn't see anything wrong or disrespectful in what he said.I get what Lebron is trying to say, but the way it's being said is in a cocky and arrogant tone.

Just Lebron being his arrogant cocky self... What else is Vogel supposed to say? Of course Miami is just another team in their way to the championship. There is no other way to look at it and Lebron is just spinning his words into something else like he often does to glorify himself even more.

The question presented to Lebron was not in context.  He was asked something along the lines of what he thought about Vogel saying Miami is just another team.  Mike and Mike actually talked about this is pretty good detail this morning.

Yeah, I didn't get that. Vogel's response was a customary coach's response when asked how they're going to prepare for the next team. Doc, Pop, and even Spo would have given the same answer "They're just another team to prepare for, we have to work on OUR stuff and not worry about what Miami is doing"...but controversy makes for a better series and there's no telling how the media presented the question to Bron.

I figured that much with the media, but what does the Heat want other teams to say? "They're the best team right now and we're just a stepping stone to them getting another ring" Every team says "they're just another team" when talking about their opponent (the Heat have done it too). At least Vogel didn't tell his team to dress in funeral black when they go to Miami  ;D

just one more example of how lebron is terribly self-absorbed and has a mediocre brain at best. seems to me to be a case of a person who lacks the ability to see past himself or understand how anyone could not adore him.

while not quite a-rod bad, lebron does embarrass himself with regularity off the court. being unworldly at basketball does not automatically mean someone is brilliant in other areas of life...as we can see here.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

just Lebron being cocky. I see no negativity in Vogel's interview. If anything he's right about being in the final four and Miami is in the way

Lebron thinks the Heat are something more than a basketball team?  I don't get it.  Does he think they are gods?  Seems like it.

No matter what context Lebron was asked the question in his response is extremely defensive for something so stupid.

"Lebron, Vogel said Miami is just another team. What do you think of that"

"Ughh yeah we are another team"

I enjoyed this insight into Lebron's mindset:

Quote
...you really don’t prepare for just another team.

Maybe that's why, to date, Lebron only has one championship.  Too little preparation, too much taking teams for granted.

I can't imagine Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, or Bill Russell saying it's okay to not prepare for a playoff opponent under any circumstances.

Frank Vogel said after last night's game, "They're the next team that's in our way and that's how we're approaching it.''

Reporter to LeBron: “Vogel kept saying last night that you guys are just another team.''

LeBron: “We're not just another team. I don't understand what he's saying. But we're not just another team. It's not true.''

Another reporter asks what he said.

LeBron: “He said we're just another team in their way. We're not just another team. We're a great team. We're very confident. We'll be ready for them. But if we're just another team, you really don't prepare for just another team. We're not just another team. You got to be prepared for us.''

A third reporter: “Did your ears perk up when your heard that [from Vogel].''

LeBron: “Absolutely. I'll be ready.'

bad reporting and just egging Lebron on.  Lebron probably didn't have to take the bait, but this is almost entirely on the reporters trying to create a story and not much else.

Does anyone remember the response (if any) from Lebron or the Heat when Doc stated earlier in the season that "The Heat aren't defending anything, they didn't win anything this year"?

For some reason I don't remember if a big deal was made of it.

He's someone that doesn't seem to think before he speaks.
