Rip me all you want, but if Terrance is telling the truth and the gun is LEGAL I have no issue with what happened. The man is allowed to protect himself if he feels threatened. (And this is coming from somebody who has never fired a gun in his life and is pretty anti-gun)

Even if he's telling the truth, it's extraordinarily bad judgment to pull out his gun during an argument with his child's mother.

If he felt "threatened", he could have driven off.  He could have called the police.  But no, he pulls out a gun, *steps out of the vehicle* (surely, the actions of a "threatened" man), and forces his 10 year old son to intervene, getting between his two parents and this gun.

Terrence Williams seemingly sucks at decision-making more than he sucks at NBA basketball.  The woman he had a child with sounds like she's a piece of trash, as well.  I feel for that kid.

I will backtrack slightly. Poor judgement? I'll give you that but it was the mom who claimed the son had to intervene. He could of driven off or called the police I'm sure and it was a bad decision to get out of the vehicle. He could of easily pulled out the gun and kept it handy if he felt threatened for his life. I don't think it was the mother he felt threatened by, it was her bf and the 2nd man Terrance thought was approaching.

Maybe I have too much sympathy for him or a person who grew up in his environment, I'll own that and it's entirely possible. However, these actions will not force me to write him off as some scumbag/loser who should be kicked out of the NBA.

Everything aside, you're right, it's always the child who suffers in these situations.

If you pull out a gun during an argument, saying that you didn't point it at anyone doesn't make it better.

I hope that Terrence Williams stays a Celtic.  I like his game, and from what I've seen in interviews and such, he seems like a likable young man.

Obviously, it seems pretty clear that for him to have a successful NBA career, he'll have to find a way to move past his personal problems.

I'm a big believer in second chances . . . heck, even third, fourth, and fifth chances.  Count me as somebody who will be rooting for him.

With T-Will its a simple answer for DA, but if DA had to keep one of his best players who had done something controversial like this, would he still be here?

Probably.  Danny held onto Tony Allen after he was allegedly involved in a shooting.

Tony was involved in an incident but I don't think he had a gun.  Sebastian Telfair was arrested for gun possession and traded very quickly.  Celts had and may still have a no gun arrest policy.  I think Danny or Wyck made a statement around the time of the Gilbert Arenas locker room incident?

Has there been any actual charges levied against Williams yet? Are we certain Williams firearm was unholstered? Washington is an open carry state.

Ok, just read the herald article.  It's too bad that he unhholstered as it now becomes he said she said. Even when she drops charges the damage may have been done.

There's are witnesses, according to the Herald article:

Quote
King County prosecutor’s office spokesman Dan Donohoe confirmed last night that Williams’ son stepped between the adults after Williams pulled out a handgun.

Also, the woman's boyfriend was there.  So, rather than he said, she said, there's a good chance this becomes a case of he said, they said.

If this is true, I think Terrence Williams should be punished with some loss of visitation rights, if the mother wants that to happen.

This will seemingly contradict the above, but... hypothetically, if we assume the accusation is true, am I the only one that actually wants to see him stick around even more? If we are going to suck horribly for the foreseeable future, I'd like to have something entertaining to enjoy about our fellas. I greatly miss Perk, Nate, Delonte, Tony, etc. They were legends, and we were lucky to have them.

So, if it's true, your argument is that it's "entertaining" to have guys on the team who wave guns around in front of their 10 year old son, threatening to kill that child's mother?

We have different standards of entertainment, I guess.

I didn't realize his son was present, nor that he was threatening to kill his mother. So yeah, you're right, that is pretty awful. Hard to believe, given he had just gotten the opportunity to play for the Cs.

If this was a Celtic star, I would have a lot of problem wanting him on this team or cheering for him. But its not a Celtic star. It a mid season add on of a guy that wasn't good enough to make an NBA team last off season and went to play in China.

He has had locker room issues or issues with coaches and GMs virtually wherever he has gone in the NBA. He is a scrub that was only given a non-guaranteed contract for next season because Danny thought he could use that as trade filler this off season.

His time in Boston is over with this incident. Good riddance.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Not excusing what he did, but after further analysis on his life story, and other things.

Terrence Williams grew up in the projects where people get shot for literally anything. Him and Nate Robinson are close friends, and both share a tattoo of an 8 inside a spiderweb which represents the project they were trapped in at a young age. Yeah him having a child at 15 is inexcusable, but it happens... Condom breaks, or that 0.01% somehow manages to not work in your favor? Anyways growing up in that kind of violence and gun incidents all over the country, especially like Chicago, then you can't really judge the mentality of someone like Terrence.

I grew up in Jamiaca Queens at the time it was bad, and there was plenty of hustling, drug dealing, and hookers with pimps waiting near by local delis and hot spots. To this day, my mind has changed greatly, because I still can't forget to remember the days that it was really horrific. You can't easily erase that. My friends in 8th and 9th grade carried knives to school, and grew up with parents who snorted coke, and had guns at home. The community and environment you grow up in can make or break someone's mentality.

I will say it is inexcusable what his actions were. Pulling out a gun in front of your child isn't something you can casually talk about.. Obviously there are going to be repercussions. I just hope T-Will apologizes and owns up if the truth is revealed. And talks to Danny to maybe find out a solution that's best for the both of them. At least leave on good terms, that way maybe he'll get another chance. Once again will say he had a wonderful opportunity, but squandered his possibilities... This might be his final shot.

Honestly, if there's anyone who can turn around T-Will and make him become a better man/player. It can be Doc Rivers/Ainge. We've had so many knuckle heads and idiots who've come into our organization, and have shape shifted into something else.

I'm all for second chances and I hope that T-Will doesn't become another statistic, but he has only himself to blame.  There was no need for him to bring a gun, registered or not, into that situation.  If you feel threatened enough in advance to be carrying, make sure a visitation officer is present, or hire a bodyguard or two.  Heck, I bet he could have called his agent, or the Celtics, or the NBA, and they'd have provided him with some protection.  But he didn't, and regardless of the he-said, she-said nature, there is no denying he has a gun, and that's never going to look good.

So he should bring a bodyguard when he meets his kid, okay
