  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
You think KG will "help" a mentally weak player who's lost all confidence in even catching a basketball?

He looked ready and was hustling crazy last night. Grabbing offensive rebounds and defending (fouling).

I'm not saying I'll trade him for Pierce though, but he's someone who's established and could be had for cheap because of his contract (who's also an expiring contract next year if he doesnt choose to end his ETO), I'll trade for him for that.
Established as one of the worst players in the NBA, sure. 5 fouls in 11 minutes with 4 rebounds.

I mean if you want a Ryan Hollins type of performance more power to you.

2 out of four is offensive.

I disagree about thw Ryan Hollins comparison. This man averaged a double double before he got that contract and tried to do too much. He rebounds, he defends and runs the floor well.  If we establish a role for him where he is not relied to score he'll contribute. He'll be a 9 million expiring contract at the end of the season as well.

Again, not for Pierce but if we can dump salaries for him, say Lee, Jordan Crswford and a pick im all for him.

Tweak might be in order.  Can't we get Jack in a sign and trade?

If so, how about Biedrens, Jack, and Landry for Terry and PP??

We need to unload Jason on someone and Golden State needs veterans IMHO.

Did I also mention that Biedrins is quickly establishing himself as one of the worst free throw shooters in the history of the game? Not that this bit is really relevant.

Hey, at least he has a higher career FT% than Deandre Jordan!
Perhaps, but over the last 4 seasons, he's an amazing 19 for 78 (!), good for slightly over 24%.

He just went downhill very quickly, and in pretty much all respects.

wow. that is incredibly terrible. he seemed to have so much promise at the start of his career.
Yes, he was pretty much a double-double waiting to happen, similar to David Lee when he was breaking into the league. I can't really fathom what happened.

Here are his free throws in a shootaround in 2007:

Maybe not a world beater, but a relatively fluid motion, body support, nice spin and arc.

And then there is the current iteration:

Looks like he's trying to throw a curveball. What the heck happened over those 5 years?!

Horrid trade for Boston.  They give up Pierce and get nothing of substantial value in return.  A high-level starter is worth far, far more than a good bench player and a nonrotation player.

Steal for GS.  Not the greatest fit, but with a lopsided trade like this I think you accept on the spot and figure out how to fit the pieces together later.  Too much of a talent upgrade to say no.

This just proves how most on this board tend to over value PP.  I love PP, but he looked horrible in the playoffs.  HORRIBLE!!!  Thank God for Jason Kidd, because PP's quality dropped off the cliff from the regular season to the playoffs more quickly than any player except for NOW Kidd.

Why in the world does GSW want Pierce if they have Harrison who was an absolute star for GSW in the playoffs and is their long term answer at the SF position?

Why in the world would GSW prefer to have Biedrins or Jefferson over Pierce if they can avoid giving up too much to make it happen?  Biedrins is so worthless right now that getting anything in return for him is a plus.  Pierce is a veteran near the end of his career who does not threaten Barnes as the long-term SF.  Pierce shouldn't be the team's first choice to solidify the bench, but he would be an upgrade over the status quo.
The reason Golden State didn't go farther in the playoffs was not because they lacked what Pierce could give them or because Biedrins and Jefferson were wasting $20 million in payroll. The Warriors also seem very happy developing Draymond Green as a long term solution at the back up SF position.

What the Warriors need is a sure thing at the center position as well as better defense from the interior. They have $20 million in expiring contracts if someone wants to cut payroll. Pierce is just not what GSW need right now and they should be able to get what they need with their expiring contracts.

They are tied at the hip to Andrew Bogut for 14.2 million for next year.

He is not tradeable and therefore he IS there center thru next year.

They are NOT just ONE center away from winning a title.  It would help IF Steph's ankles could stay consistently healthy much more than upgrading the center spot, that realistically cannot be upgraded until after next year.

Wait.

So GS can trade Biedrins $9 million expiring contract or Richard Jefferson's $11 million expiring contract but they are married to Bogut's $14 million expiring contract and can't upgrade their center position because of that?

Does that make any sense whatsoever?

It does, because Bogut is worth his contract when healthy, and you can't simply upgrade from him. Bogut would be tradable like Biedrins and Jefferson, if he was out next season.

If there was a solid chance that Bogut would stay healthy, I might consider trading Pierce for him.

It does make sense Nick.  G.S. gave up a lot to get Bogut and they have not yet seen him have a fully healthy season.  Therefore, they want to see him healthy next year.  He might be there answer at C.  I would imagine they would LOVE to see how a healthy Lee and Bogut play side by side. Thanks Euro!!

I'd definitely take Carl Landry. Love his game and think he'd be great alongside/coming in for Bass

It does make some sense in that they're pairing a 8-digit high impact (although injury prone) player with a young bargain center, David Lee filling out the platoon.

Honestly guys, GSW seems like a dead end, the biggest thing that could help this team that they could attain (including Pierce) is a healthy year of playing together.

I am kind of shocked that people think GS should keep Bogut and once again wait for him to miss 40-50 games next year while for the 4th straight year have ever decreasing numbers. He hasn't been a factor in the NBA for over 2 years. He's an overpaid, fragile, center putting up worse and worse numbers every year. What first looked like a positive playoffs turned sour as Bogut's health once again caused him to disappear.

I can't see why they wouldn't explore moving him rather than watch him do to them what Biedrins has already done to them.
