It humors me that Biedrens is called "one of the worst players in the NBA" yet people on this board still praise Perk!!  Perk's Efficiency Rating for the playoffs on nba.com is 3.09 and Biedrens' is a 3.00.  Huge difference huh??  Oh, I hear it coming:  Perk interior defense is SO MUCH better, right Perk disciples??  Perk fouls at a ridiculous rate now (some might argue since his surgery)!!

Andris is an expiring contract.  I also feel that if KG comes back, he could light a fire under him.  He used to be a VERY solid center in this league!!!!

Also, Landry would be more likely and likely more helpful to our team on the front line as well.

P.S. I knew that Jack was a free agent, but I didn't realize that he had a 17.58 efficiency rating for the playoffs.  He will demand a pay raise that we likely will NOT want to give him.  Good indirect point Roy.

This would solve two problems, especially with Jack.  It would give us a SOLID back up PG that can score and defend and a decent back up Center or mediocre starting Center.  Maybe KG can help right the Biedrens' ship.

Landry would be a perfect rebounder off the bench.

Thoughts on either of these trades?

Smitty77

First of all I believe Jarret Jack is a FA so you can't trade for him. http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2012/03/201314-nba-free-agents.html

And second ,with Curry's ankle issues, GS needs a good backup PG.  So even if he wasn't a FA why would they trade a good PG for Pierce?  The answer is they wouldn't...

I don't think anyone in their right mind would trade Pierce for Perkins, even if Perkins was expiring.

Did I also mention that Biedrins is quickly establishing himself as one of the worst free throw shooters in the history of the game? Not that this bit is really relevant.

Hey, at least he has a higher career FT% than Deandre Jordan!

Beans (ETO) and Jack are free agents so I don't think we can trade for them.

And I probably am the only one who like Biedrins here, but I'm not trading him for Pierce. He's stock is very low and the only thing that it takes for the Warriors to deal him is  if they take less salary back. If we can do that, we can have Beans for less.

Perhaps, but over the last 4 seasons, he's an amazing 19 for 78 (!), good for slightly over 24%.

He just went downhill very quickly, and in pretty much all respects.

Biedrens averages:

2006/2007:  9.5 pts./ 9.3 rebs./ 1.7 blocks
2007/2008:  10.5 pts/ 9.8 rebs./ 1.2 blocks
2008/2009:  11.9 pts./ 11.2 rebs./ 1.6 blocks

I think at age 27 his rapid decline is MENTAL and not physical. That is where KG comes if IF he returns.  I think that taking a flyer on him possibly becoming a solid center for us long-term with a one year tryout is NOT a bad idea.

Also, do you all not think that Carl Landry would help us??

You think KG will "help" a mentally weak player who's lost all confidence in even catching a basketball?

Better to just waive Pierce and move on if you're trading him for garbage.

Landry/Jack are nice players but we don't need more mid-sized contracts for okay players.

He looked ready and was hustling crazy last night. Grabbing offensive rebounds and defending (fouling).

I'm not saying I'll trade him for Pierce though, but he's someone who's established and could be had for cheap because of his contract (who's also an expiring contract next year if he doesnt choose to end his ETO), I'll trade for him for that.

Established as one of the worst players in the NBA, sure. 5 fouls in 11 minutes with 4 rebounds.

I mean if you want a Ryan Hollins type of performance more power to you.

I would do this trade if GS threw in a pick, and it was a precursor to completely blowing up and getting into the Wiggins sweepstakes.

Not a bad idea. If it were Pierce for Jarrett Jack and Carl Landry, I'd probably do it. Like you said, Jack is a good shooter and Landry is a tough rebounder.

However, I'd really want no part of Biedrins or R. Jefferson. If it gets to that, I'd rather just keep Pierce and have him come off the bench.

Now Terry or Lee, they can have for Biedrins, Jefferson and/or a tuna sandwich.

Why in the world does GSW want Pierce if they have Harrison who was an absolute star for GSW in the playoffs and is their long term answer at the SF position?

Why in the world would GSW prefer to have Biedrins or Jefferson over Pierce if they can avoid giving up too much to make it happen?  Biedrins is so worthless right now that getting anything in return for him is a plus.  Pierce is a veteran near the end of his career who does not threaten Barnes as the long-term SF.  Pierce shouldn't be the team's first choice to solidify the bench, but he would be an upgrade over the status quo.
