I just don't think there is a player available who brings top tier d, rebounding and low post offense.

If I could only get a player who hits two out of those three, I think I'd go for a defender/rebounder who doesn't have a good low post offense.
Assuming the original package off bass, lee ( or Bradley) and  the 16:
Who is that player?
Not a lot out there who would could legitimately extend the run.

I'd like to see Big Al return if he can play alongside KG. Sure his defence isn't great, but he fills the Celtics two most glaring needs: rebounding and low-post scoring.

For us to be able to offer Al enough to come here, it'll have to be a sign and trade though and I'm not sure the pieces we want to subtract will be enticing to the Jazz (Pierce, Bass, Lee/ Terry).

They're only going to trade Jefferson to us if they can improve their backcourt, in particular the point guard position.

The only player on our roster that fits that description is Rondo, but obviously trading him straight up for Big Al would be nuts.

So the only way it happens, I think, is if Pierce is traded somewhere for at least one good backcourt player, who could then be flipped to Utah for Al.

Flip Lee and our role players for a bunch of picks for Al Jeff is what I'd rather do. If I'm trading Pierce, it's not going to be for Al Jeff*.

Helps us win now, helps Utah accumulate assets while Kanter and Favors mature.

A team like the Grizz could mortgage a protected future first for Lee.

Edit: what I mean is rather than trade Pierce for a treadmill of mediocrity, I'd rather preserve his legacy and let him retire.

Ha I think even us Cs fans are brainwashed a little with the defense first mantra.

We just had historically the worst offense in the playoffs ever. It really wouldn't hurt to have some guys who can score.

Plus everyone has there flaws Rondo has flaws, KG has flaws, Westbrook has flaws, Dirk has flaws.

I don't think there is much you could do to damage Pierce's legacy as a Celtic at this point.

I just think it is probably time to move on and start reshaping the team around Rondo and Green. Rondo is turning 28 next season and it will probably take 2-3 years to reload for another run even if Ainge hits some home runs.

So the sooner Ainge gets started the better IMO, otherwise we might as well move Rondo for younger players as well!

I think it's a decent comparison but like Randolph, I only have interest in Al if we can pair him next to a very good defensive center ala Marc Gasol

Exactly I think to a point Sully is going to be in a similar boat. Wide body PFs need defensive anchors next to them for their teams to be successful in the playoffs example Boozer, Randolph
Mavs
Wiz
Hornet
