We transform our end of season signings into omne big, starter quality, rebounding, big man in one of those amazing trades Danny Ainge pulls from time to time.

Ending up with free season seats, courtside.

That would probably be my perfect off-season.

Trade Bass, Bradley, Crawford and Lee for Eric Gordon and Jason Smith.

Get UFAs Josh McRoberts and Dalembert (or, Pachulia) for MLE or BiAnnual Exemption which ever applies to either players.

Draft Tony Mitchell.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
PP and Bradley traded to the Clippers for Deandre Jordan, Caron Butler, and Eric Bledsoe . KG retires as a result. Rondo is traded to Bucks for Ilyasova and Larry Sanders.

Lineup looks like:

Bledsoe/Williams/Terry
Lee/Crawford/Terry
Green/Ilyasova/Butler
Sullinger/Bass/Randolph
Jordan/Sanders/Melo

This lineup gives us just as much a shot as we have right now. It could challenge for the playoffs. A lot more youth and athleticism. Stick with this team a couple years and add pieces as Terry and Butler and Bass leave and you might hit lighting.

 I
I'm not hating, but to me that basically turns us into the worst pieces of the Clippers (over rated to the max), with the best part of the Bucks (a losing record 8th seed).
We might make the playoffs in the 7th or 8th seed but would be bounced very quickly.
Only way I'd take that squad is to build up the value of a lot of those mediocre guys like DeAndre, Jeff Green and Bledsloe...then trade em for a superstar.
If we were to keep that roster they'd barely make the top 12 each season.
I'm a huge Larry Sanders fan, however trading for him and Jordan wouldn't make sense considering they are both limited offensively and would struggle to be on the court at once.

Thats what those  "/" marks mean. Sanders would be backing up Jordan. They wouldn't be on the floor at the same time.

As far as Green being mediocre, he basically mirrored PP's stats this season. If you take out the first half of the season due to shaking off rust and coming off the bench I'd say he was the better player and was improving. Bledsoe is a solid PG, not spectacular, but that spot on the floor isn't what will make the difference in a championship.
I understand the what the "/" marks mean. I just think it would be wasteful to reset our roster by having the main pieces coming back to us play the same position and never be  able to be on the floor at the same time.

Also Larry Sanders is significantly better than Jordan so he would probably start with Jordan coming off the bench.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

"Run it back," but add Josh Smith to the mix. Use some combination of Green, Bass or Sully, Lee or Bradley, draft pick to get him in a sign and trade with Atlanta.

Rondo
Bradley or Lee
Pierce
J. Smith
KG

Off the bench: Williams, Terry, [best available back-up center here], and whomever you can keep from the Bass/Sully/Lee/Bradley trade bait.

I just think Smith adds a level of athleticism, aggressiveness, and interior presence that's superior to Green and would mesh well with our lineup. Especially considering his shot-blocking. His bad habits would be tamed playing with alpha dogs like KG, PP, and Rondo, and he and Rondo would be good players to move forward with for the future. (Although we would be comical at the free throw line with those two...).

A) What I want:

KG and the Captain are back.

Danny drafts Dario Saric at #16, buys a second rounder and picks Kenny Kadji.

Jordan Crawford/Shav/DJ White are moved for future 2nd rounders or released.

Melo/TWill/Bradley and Green use this offseason to improve their games. Lee, Terry and Bass work out like mad men to be in top shape to start the season.

Nenad Krstic gets sick of losing with CSKA and comes to the Celtics for reasonable money.

Sully and Rondo report 100% healthy to training camp.

Barbosa is signed for the vet min.

Celtics start the season with this roster:

Rondo/TWill/Barbosa
Bradley/Terry/Lee
Green/Pierce
Sully/Bass/Kadji
Krstic/KG/Melo

With Saric in Europe for 1-2 years. An open roster spot to keep some flexibility. I don't know if they could stay under the hard cap, but they have some flexibility going to the 2014 Draft/offseason.

B) If KG is retiring:

Danny drafts Dario Saric at #16, buys a second rounder and picks Kenny Kadji.

Trade KG to Orlando for Turkoglu and their 2014 first round pick. Then KG files retirement papers and comes back to the Cs as big men coach. Orlando saves tons of money, and Turkoglu's contract expires next summer.

Trade Pierce and Bass to Chicago for Boozer + Rip Hamilton and the Bobcats 2014 first rounder (top-8 protected in 2014, top-10 in 2015, unprotected in 2016).

Keep Rondo & Sully in street clothes until after the All Star Break. Play them the final months to get them in shape/showcasing.

Showcase the rookies, Fab, TWill, Shav, Crawford, Terry, Lee, Bradley and Green. Try to cash in around the trade deadline or in the 2014 Draft to get a building block for the future (top pick/All Star).

Start the season with this roster:

Bradley/TWill/Rondo(injured)
Lee/Terry/Crawford
Green/Saric/Rip Hamilton
Boozer/Kadji/Turkoglu(dnp)
Melo/Shav/Sully(injured)

This team is bad enough to get a top 5-10 pick. Use the picks/expiring contracts(Turkoglu/Rip)/Boozer/young players to get your big prize in the summer of 2014.

If Pierce and KG are 30 year olds, that line up is competitive. Truth is (no pun intended), PP can't defend and run at a very competitive level anymore. Try matching that line up with the Knicks' Tyson, Amare/KMart, Melo/Copeland/Novak, JR Smith/Shumpert, Felton/Kidd/Prigioni. The Knicks will just outrun us. Going forward, KG and PP should most of the time not be on the floor together.

Actually, that's pretty easy. KG can definitely guard Chandler. Josh Smith can definitely guard Amare/KMart/Melo. Pierce can guard Melo/Copeland/Novak (none of those guys are very fast, Pierce should always guard the "slower" wing player now). And Rondo and Bradley or Lee can definitely guard the Knicks guards.

On offense, Josh Smith would take a lot of offensive pressure off Pierce and KG. He can get out on the break and finish passes from Rondo. And he can score around the basket and is much better rebounder than Green at the 4 spot.

Key is I think he wants to play here. And that means something in terms of team chemistry, which is a strength of the team.

I think if we could try to have Jeff stay so J-Smoove can make up for any deficiencies Green has. I think Jeff should focus on a lot of things, but J-Smoove will help our defense and rebounding woes, and be able to score with fast break points. Surprisingly, Green is actually taller than J-Smoove.

I don't mind trying to trade Pierce at this point for J-Smoove. I still want them to run it back, but I don't think trying to tank would even work out in our favor. A nucleus of Bradley, Green, Smith, Rondo and Sully should be good enough to put us in the fifth or sixth seed. If we're able to pull off signing Perkins when he gets amnestied, or somehow Danny works his magic to obtain Jefferson then our lineup could arguably be top 3 seed.

The one that yields either an overall first pick or a championship. Nothing in between, we'll leave those to the other 29 teams.
