Would Green, Bass, Lee, Sullinger, Bradley, Melo and the 16th pick in this years draft get us another max player that could extend this window?

For instance, let us say Dirk and the Mavs fail at recruiting and agree it is time to go the rebuild route. Let's say Dirk is ready to move on, hypothetically. Would that package get it done?

Isn't that how we basically got KG? Got rid of a good role players and a pick?

Not at all. We gave up a burgeoning young offensive first option in Jefferson, and a high-risk, high-reward prospect in Green.

Green didn't pan out, and Jefferson tore his ACL and hasn't been the same since.

No, not even close really.

If Jeff Green and Rondo were both on their rookie deals and were 3 years younger, then yes, probably, if you threw in a first round pick.

Well I'm not getting rid of all those players... And it wouldn't even happen anyways.

That's basically the Kings if Cousins was better.

I wish because most of those guys on our team aren't good, at all.

Green is inconsistent, Bradley literally disappeared in the playoffs, Lee sucks, Sullinger was out of shape and Bass is undersized and inconsistent.

It be great if those guys could get us Dirk Nowitzki because I would make that deal in a heartbeat, but they probably couldn't even get us Dirk Diggler.

Our most enticing non-Rondo package would probably be Green, the 3 non-guaranteed deals, our #16 pick and Sully.  That's in the general ballpark of what OKC got for Harden (Martin, Lamb, Toronto pick).

Problem is there really isn't a Harden level talent on the market.  Cuban has promised he's not moving Dirk.  Minnesota is trying to pull themselves out of the bottom of the barrel - they are not going to dump Love for another rebuilding package unless that situation gets a lot worse.

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Only if the other team wants to take 5 dimes for a dollar.

Harden wasn't a star when that trade was made.  He wasn't even a starter.  They were taking a chance and projecting him to be a star.

They got Lamb (picked 12th), Martin (a solid starter who averages 18 points), two future 1st rounders (one of which comes from Toronto and is projected 12).. plus a 2nd round pick.

Sully wasn't a lotto pick.  The #16 pick isn't a lotto pick.  Even if we pretended those two were lotto picks, to equal the bounty that OKC got for their bench player, we'd have to find another 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder.

So in other words...

it would be like packaging Jeff Green, Sully, the #16 picks... another 1st rounder... another 2nd rounder... and getting back a bench player with potential.  Derrick Favors, for instance.   Except that the Houston package was more valuable than that imaginary Boston package.

Dirk is kind of a bad example.

But yes, I think we have the "chips" to get a max player/superstar.

But I don't know if that's gonna happen

I know Bass, Lee, and Terry didn't play well for us and Fab Melo seems worthless to most Celtics fans but i'm sure there are teams that value those players. Teams could use Bass's defense on Carmello and his mid-range shot, Terry's ability to hit 3s, and Courtney Lee's defense and his ability to score on the fastbreak. I'm sure that along with Melo and a ton of picks we can possibly pull of a multi-team trade for a good player.

I think Ainge has enough chips, depending on the max guy.

It'd likely be a max guy with some sort of issues: health, contract, or demeanor/character.

If we have the chips to get a max player wouldn't we have gotten one by now? We are gonna have the same chips in the offseason as we did at the trade deadline.
