  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
If you're Danny, who do you take with the 16th pick this year?
Obviously it depends if we run it back  and draft for need,  or we go into tank/reload mode. And pick for potential.

For me, I take Gorgui Dieng regardless of our intentions.
Shotblocker/ basket protecter who has potential but can contribute immediately.

If he's gone then it's tougher. Probably Withey or another basket protector.
If Dieng is gone and we dump LG and Pierce for tank land then I probably roll the dice on a small forward project in the following order:
1) Giannis
2) karasev
3)Saric

Who do you pick? If they're not available then who's your backup?

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Agree. Looks like a heck of a player and will be a lot better than Melo at least.

Here's a video if you haven't seen him. Warning: music's pretty loud. Also check out who he blocks at 1:40 ;)

I really don't want to see the celtics take dieng, it's nothin against him I just think he is to safe a pick. He is destin to be a solid backup center at 23 I don't see him as anything more than a 15-20 min a night 5 pt 5 rb 1 blk guy.

I like the 3 Sf you listed, I doubt he falls but I also like Caldwell-pope.

For bigs I'm still hung up on the potential of gobert. Likely to be a bust but if he pans out could be an elite shot blocker. I like plumper over Whitney or dieng. My dark horse for he pick is tony Mitchell he probebly has the best physical profile in this draft 6'8 1/2" 240 7'3 wingspan and elite athletism.  Just has to get it out of his head that he is a sf and stick to pf.

In the end I probebly take Karesev, 19 and highly productive if he isn't there then gobert, Giannis, saric, in that order

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
All along I've thought that we should draft a big. However with the offseason being influx I'm not sure we will need bigs.

I'm curious to see how the foreign players measure and play in the pre draft process. If Ainge believes one of them has a chance to be a star I can see us going that way.

I also wouldn't be shocked by a trade.

Everything you said lol I would have no problem walking away with Whitey but man does Shabazz interest me. He has obvious flaws but there's a ton to like about this kid. My realistic dream scenario is Danny moves up and nabs this kid.

He sure has red flags but out of everyone in this draft class he has the most killer instinct and competitiveness. His flaws can be fixed, especially in a locker room like and coaching staff like us.

And the good thing about it, even if he does not pan out, we can still get value for him as his upside is great. Good athlete, scoring instincts.

I'd love for Shabazz to be playing for us. He can be our next Paul Pierce.

I'm really glad somebody else on here is as high on him as I am. Thought I might get ripped for being such a big fan of him in green.

Offensively, he's the whole package. Can shoot spotting up, off the dribble, off the screen. He is a very good post player and attacks the basket in an angry fashion I love to watch. He's an excellent offensive rebounder and gets to the free throw line at a high rate. You never have to worry about this kids motor or effort.

People will point to the fact that he averaged less than one assist a game and that's an understandable concern but like you said, that can be fixed. The more I read about him the more I like. I think he may deserve his own thread to call out the Shabazz supporters/haters lol

He still needs some work on his offense. He relies on the left hand too much. He also relies too much on those one handed tear drops instead of finishing strong, which he can since he's burly and big and strong. His post work is great, he can punish small defenders.

Jump shot is improving (according to scouts). The assists is not an issue. He's a scorer, while he does need to learn to pass out when trapped (that's the concern) I'm not concerned with his assists.

His commitment to playing defense is his biggest red flags. Sometimes he sleeps, but has shown that he can defend at time.

I want him playing for us. His flaws can be fixed. His upside is sky high. Scoring won't be a problem.

Nice scouting report Yoki lol

Not to mention the dude never turns the ball over even with all his touches.

The real question is what would we have to give up? Not sure I'd be excited to trade Bradley but if Shabazz falls to Minnesota at 9 could a package of Courtney Lee or Crawford plus our 16th get it done? I think that's reasonable considering they're only dropping back 7 spots.

Thank you Pac 12 network.

That's the key. Bradley may hold some value but may not be even enough. I assume Shabazz's stock will rise a bit after the workouts, so we are looking at 5-10. I think we can still move up with Bradley, 16th maybe a future pick to get him.

color me unimpressed if this is his highlights.  dunks, steamrolling over defenders and swatting shots against smaller players.  Need to see some real post moves or solid D on other centers to even begin to get excited about this kid being more than a lifetime backup

I totally get the luv for Shabaz that some have.  But we aren't picking in the top 10, so forget it (barring a trade).

Bringing the discussion back down to reality (the 16th), I gotta say I like Withey as well at that pick.

He's a hell of a defender and comes from a solid program.   I think he could get minutes immediately.

Clearly you didn't read our conversation. We were discussing what it would take to move up and draft him
