No

I like MCW but not for us. We already have a tall pg that plays good d and can't shoot that great in Terence Williams.

What the celtics ultimately can use is a pf with sf like skills that can ease the losses of both kg and pierce.

Guys like Olynyk, Saric, Giannis fit this "need". A darkhorse is Livio Jean Charles. He should be avail at 16, bc he is a mystery euro player. What is not a myster is his mvp performance during the nike summit. I've watched the game from start to finish, and this kid has the nose for the ball. The type of nose sullinger has. But unlike sullinger has better quickness, leap and won't have trouble scoring against smaller sf's or slower pf's in the nba. Has inside outside game. But prefers to crash and bang #1 (physically not shy , which we are in need). Not the best handles, but not turnover prone, can drive straight and finish with no issues. Can finish in transition very well. Excellent iso and off ball defender. 6'9 220 pounds has a frame like Durant (narrow shoulders) but looks wiry strong.  7'3 wingspan certainly helps in all types of situation.

I only think that Olynyk will fill the role of the bench and D league bound and out of the league in a few  years after seeing him in the tourney.  Too soft and too unathletic to make it in the NBA, wet kleenex is tougher.

I think he could come in and play right away for us, as a back up to Rondo. He's a plus defender that can run an offense and spread the ball around.

As far as other players from Cuse not panning out, that is a fair point. But I don't think you can not pick a player from a certain school due to how past players performed.

We could have used a point guard against the Knicks this year, their ball pressure destroyed our offense.

I mentioned earlier the DraftExpress mock, which has Carter-Williams at 12, and Archie Goodwin at 16. DE explicitly does NOT take team needs into account with their mocks at this point, because the lottery order has not been set.

But anyway the big movers for Ford who push MCW down, with their DE rankings, are Caldwell-Pope (24), Saric (22), and Rice (31). So that gives you an idea of where some of the disagreement is.

And of course these things will change like crazy. I would say though that my impression is that known quantities like MCW usually don't rocket up the boards. It's more the international guys like Giannis who come out of nowhere, or the guys like Waiters who are darlings because of potential rather than actual performance.

So who knows, maybe he does fall to us.

If that was how it broke down I think I would want them to pick Mason Plumlee. I think he will be a better pro player than a college player.

I really hope DA goes best available this year, even if its at the wrong position or someone who's raw.  We don't need a rookie to step in next year -- we need someone who will be ready to step in the year or two after.  MCW, if he's available, would be a great pick.  I'd be shocked if he's available, especially if MIlwaukee is planning on letting Jennings and/or Ellis walk.

MCW is from Massachusetts, I wouldn't mind seeing him come home. Good size for a point guard and has a high BBIQ. You also never know how a player would translate in the NBA. I don't know how experts and analyst can call a draft "weak" without even seeing these guys play in a game. Think he will be a good starting PG/really good backup one day.

No one worth his salt with fall to us in the draft. And Ainge is a clown. Should tank, fire Ainge, and start fresh.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Are there other oversized PGs in this draft? Or is this the one I've been hearing about?

Could work with AB.
I'm considerably more interested in finding someone who can work _instead_ of Avery Bradley.

Shabazz Muhammad?

But back to topic, I think there's no way MWC will drop to us, especially with Utah and to some extent Milwaukee (his size is a good compliment to the undersized Monta) needing a point guard and are ahead of us. He's very skilled to be passed on by these two teams that could use a PG.
