I read an article on bleacher report (yea i said it) and it was kinda interesting and POSITIVE for next year if the roster stays the same ( i say still add a C)

but in regards of rebounds, we sucked this year BUT rondo was out most of year and he is the best rebounding pg in the league, also Sully was out and he was a beast at rebounds especially orebs.  Then there is pierce and KG(playoff beastmode in rebs) who are pretty active on the glass as well. you throw in shav for a few mins and a rebounding center and the c's could be decent at rebounding next year.

maybe i do want to give this group one more shot, maybe  some minor changes like trading bass, lee, terry or do i even dare say bradley for a better SG or a quality Center

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Rondo/T-Will two good rebounding guards, especially since T-Will is oversized.
SG Bradley/Lee (undersized guards, but what do you expect?)
SF Jeff Green/PP slightly above average with Paul Pierce grabbing boards, and Green needing to learn how to adjust, and box out.
PF Sully/Bass Sullinger/(FA) will make up for the rebounding deficiencies in Bass, as long as Bass keeps up his good play and defense from last post season.
C 16th Pick/KG/Shav/Melo/(FA) KG isn't the same monster he is on the boards, but he'll definitely be able to grab 7-10 boards next year. Shav will certainly help, and I hope he gets at least 7-10 garbage minutes to rest KG. Hopefully Melo improves his defense, and sticks to his true calling of shot blocking. Then finds it his priority to work on hustling, and boxing out.

Overall our two good rebounding players were out for the season.

I feel as if our rebounding woes won't be as bad next year.

thats exactly how i feel, and rebounding is one thing that hurt us this year, but you could clump that under injuries as well bc poor rebounding was due to injuries

Our rebounding is always bad and has always been bad and its going to stay bad because that is the system Doc runs. Its hard for me to understand why people keep bringing up rebounding woes when Doc has stated several times he doesnt care about offensive rebounds and would rather set the defense.

We stink at rebounding, thats the system Doc runs. And its terrible, but who was statistically the only team worse than us in rebounding and the worst overall rebounding team in the league this year? The Miami Heat... And they dont seem to be too worried about it.

I agree on doc's system doesn't care bout offensive rebs, but IMO i think it calls for heavy defensive rebounding, which we didnt do. the Heat and we even got away with it early in big 3 era bc of the talent level. The heat are easily the best talented team and rebounds don't matter, We are on the other hand are like the rest of the NBA and NEED to rebound especially on the defensive end if we are going to compete and win games against more talented teams. for most of the nba, teams need to be fundamentally sound to succeed ie: the bulls, the grizzlies, the spurs, etc..

Why does everyone love to make this comparison?

Okay we get it. Miami Heat doesn't rebound as well, and statistically are worse than us. Guess what? They have Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and Lebron James the best player in the league, and the MVP. All superstars, and a very strong roster of bench players...

Too bad Heat are clearly twice as better than the Celtics..

Wait a second. When Iman Shumpert runs in, jumps up, and grabs an offensive rebound away from Jeff Green that has nothing to do with Doc's system. That is a serious problem. When KG bounces the ball up a few times and plays hot potato with it and then tries to tap it out.....straight to Jason Kidd...that is a problem.  Grab the [dang] ball. Grab it. Both hands. Box out, jump up, grab it.  There is no excuse for a rookie like Sully being the best rebounder on the team. Apparently he got better coaching in rebounding at Ohio State than our players are from Doc.  It's crippling.

Yeah, although Miami gets fewer rebounds because they hit their shots, and we get fewer rebounds because we don't try. Haha.

On a serious note the rebounding doesn't worry me nearly as much as the scoring problems. We were a record-worst offensive team in the playoffs this year, and while Rondo will improve matters a lot, we were still not great with him. And Pierce is going to be even more limited in terms of his ability to create his own shot next year.
