Nope, not with Jeff Green in the trade. Green proved he can be a 2nd/3rd option.
I'd trade Bradley and the 16th for Gortat right away if Phoenix is good with that deal. Bradley is an elite and soon to be an All NBA defender, but in exchange for a Center who's tough, does rebounds, a decent shot blocker and offensive player. We have two 2 guards who while not as good as Bradley defensively, is not a big of a drop off so losing Avery would not be a very big deal.
a 2nd or 3rd option on a team that was the 7th seed and lost in the first round.
Which makes him in line to be a number 1 option on a lotto team.
And a 4th or 5th option on a contender.
And trade for a Center who's very reliable defensively but very limited offensively along with our All world defender in exchange for Shannon Brown?
I'd rather have our 2nd/3rd option.
No. I wouldn't make the original trade.
But the Green for Gortat, in a heart beat. A C that has proven to be good for 11-15 points and 8.5-10 rebounds a game a starter.
But Jeff Green at times can explode and take over games. I understand Gortat's consistency but Jeff can be the other guy we can go to. Gortat's points (mostly) is mainly set up by his teammates and/or offensive rebounds, which is nnot a bad thing. But I'd rather have someone who can score on his own, if we need to go to him. Gortat can't do that.
I'd take my chances and draft a Center in this year's draft than trade Green, who's slowly becoming underpaid for Gortat, no matter how consistent he is.
