Well I don't know about Brown, but Gortat is an effective rebounding center, which is what the Celtics need.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
yuck. I'd trade for a retired Vinny Baker and Sherman Douglas' sixteen year old daughter before I do that trade.

Are people really still in denial that Jeff Green is a solid player? He will never be Paul Pierce, but he can be a very key contributor, and probably even an All-Star once he gets full time starter minutes all season.

I actually like the deal.  I'd try to do it without the pick, but Green and Bradley are so overrated on this board it is getting comical at this point.  Especially Bradley.  He is an undersized SG that can't dribble, can't shoot, can't rebound, etc.  He is a good defender against smaller players, but that is about it.

Green has been the same player for years.  He doesn't excel at anything offensively, is a well below average rebounder, not a great passer, and is horribly inconsistent.

Gortat may not be an offensive monster, but is a good rebounder and shot blocker.  If PP and KG come back to Boston, he is exactly the type of player Boston needs and giving up unnecessary wings to get him would be a huge get.

Green was the second-best player for the Celtics in this year's playoffs, and this already more than Gortat or Beasley will likely achieve in their careers. So yeah, quite horrible trade.

Green showed to much promise in the playoffs to pull the trigger on this deal.

It pains me to give up Avery but a AB, Bass, Melo and #16 is the most I would want to give up for Gortat.

Bradley is 22. Plenty of time for his ceiling to rise even higher, not to mention we gave him a PG role... Its hard enough for him to cut and thrive in the offense we've seen him accomplish, if hes also trying to figure out how to set up a offense he doesn't even have experience in! AB is good at cutting, and his mid range/corner 3 is pretty decent. He just needs more time, and at this point could make All Defensive Team if given the chance.

Did you also say the player who only lost to a KG 5 years younger doesn't have any consistency? Green was scoring over 20.2 PPG in the playoffs... This isn't some regular season, this is the playoffs, where every point matters. If Green gets more minutes, develop a left, learns how to rebound better I don't see why he won't be an allstar.

By the way, this is a ridiculous trade. Why would we trade Green/AB for Gortat who isn't getting any younger, and has failed so many times in the Suns? Not to mention our 16th pick? Gortat isn't worth that much.... And Shannon Brown is just filler, and would get 4-5 minutes if at all..

HORRIBLE TRADE, Green has shown he is growing an capable of being the leading scorer and carrying the torch after KG and PP retires, AB is only 22 years old. Yes, he has struggled in the post season but what I've seen in game 6 the last 7 minutes, is all heart. With Rondo back, we can assume Bradley becomes better, because he is relieved of his pg duties and can focus solely on cutting and defense.

We need a big desperately but I will not trade our two core players for the future for just Gortat and a guy who only dunks

I think people are pretty high on Jeff and like him a lot. I would have no problem if Green spent the next 6 years as a Celtic but you need to give to get.

If people think Pheonix can't get a better offer than Bass+spare parts for a starting caliber center, still in his prime, on a good contract than you are fooling yourselves.

I think bradley is too much to include and I'm not entierly in love with Gortat but if PP and KG return he would fit in very nicely.

Nope, not with Jeff Green in the trade. Green proved he can be a 2nd/3rd option.

I'd trade Bradley and the 16th for Gortat right away if Phoenix is good with that deal. Bradley is an elite and soon to be an All NBA defender, but in exchange for a Center who's tough, does rebounds, a decent shot blocker and offensive player. We have two 2 guards who while not as good as Bradley defensively, is not a big of a drop off so losing Avery would not be a very big deal.

a 2nd or 3rd option on a team that was the 7th seed and lost in the first round.

Which makes him in line to be a number 1 option on a lotto team.

And a 4th or 5th option on a contender.

No, on a team that was the 7th seed and lost in the first round he was eventually the first scoring option, because a one-legged Pierce and an ancient Garnett weren't exactly getting it done.
