Let's rebuild while contending at the same time.
Trade Pierce to Utah in a S&T to bring Al Jeff back to the Celtics.
Lineup
Rondo
Bradley
Green
KG
Big Al
While Al is not good at defense, the system coached by Doc and KG could mask his flaws. Also, this puts us into contender status by fixing our offense (makes it more efficient by having a low post scoring big as a first option) while KG would be spelled by Brandon Bass off the bench. It's a team that could absolutely contend with Miami due to the fact Miami does not have a legit center, KG could match up with Bosh, and we would finally win the rebounding battle convincingly.
Also, I previously suggested Samuel Dalembert as a S&T option with Bass or Lee.
Full Lineup
Rondo/Barbosa/TWill
Bradley/Terry/Lee (depending on S&T)
Green/(free agent)/Lee (depending on S&T)
KG/Sully/Bass (depending on S&T)
Al Jeff/Dalembert/Wilcox
Someone tell me that lineup can't make it to the finals. We could match up with any team in the East. The hardest part would be convincing KG to stay even though Pierce leaves. Even if he decided to retire, we still have Sully as our starting PF, making us a very good team that could get past Miami due to rebounding and inside play.
Also, I'm not sure of the buyout rules, but if we S&T Paul to Utah for Al, and Utah then buys out his contract, isn't he eligible to sign back to the Celtics? That way, he could play off the bench or start in limited minutes again.
