  • Another undersized Celtic...
Doesn't surprise me... if KG retires like we expect him to, this team is going to have an extremely tough time even making the playoffs.  They were dreadful defensively anytime KG sat.  The difference was absurd.

Also, Rajon Rondo is 6-9 months away from even running... let alone being ready to play basketball.  Who knows when and if he'll be back next season.

Definitely makes the most sense to go full-blown tank mode.  We aren't going to be contenders any time soon... 2014 draft is looking epic.  That's our best and only hope of landing a franchise player (Rondo isn't the type of talent you build a contender around and he'll be 28-29 years old by the time he comes back)... No sense in keeping Pierce if we're going to be in the lotto for the foreseeable future.

Doubtful we can get anything of value for him.  I'm assuming we'll just waive him at this point and let him join whatever contender he wants to play for.  He'll be 36 years old next season.

Rondo could've played in the first-round. He looked healthy to me. He even took jump shots during pre-game practices during a regular season game. They decided to not activate him and ruled him out for season. I expect him to start in October/November.
Dude there was just a report last week that said he's 6-9 months away from even jogging.  Don't know what you're talking about.

He didn't even look like he was in crucial pain. Heck he even played THROUGH the so-called torn ACL injury during the Atlanta game. The guy even walked off in his own power. If it was a torn ACL, I would have seen the same reaction as Leandro Barbosa's or Derrick Rose's. Media just blowing up reports as always. Still expecting to see him start in November.
::)

Clearly you're an orthopedic wunderkind.
There has been so many advances in ACL/MCL injuries over the years (probably because there have been so many) that I would expect him to be starting the season on time. All signs point to Brady, AP, Welker, hell even Marcus Lattimore who [dang] near tore his leg off. When you combine those advances with Rondo's will (he did play through that gruesome elbow injury), I think he will be okay. That of course all depends on they way his body responds, but he's a tough SOB.

Doc said this back in August:

"But having said that, he's (Ray) not going to start in Miami. And I doubt he gets the ball more. But I do think, for a guy like Ray and Paul (Pierce)and Kevin (Garnett) and Kobe (Bryant), it's easier to go somewhere and do that, than have it taken from you where you're at."

I don't see Pierce being content with subbing for Green, and Doc isn't going to make Green a backup for Pierce anymore and shouldn't. And there isn't gong to be a one guard lineup like there was late in this season.

I think it was fairly obvious that Ray had much less loyalty to the Celtics franchise than Paul or Kevin do. I don't know that remaining a starter but being the 3rd best player on another team would be as appealing to PP as playing his entire career for the Celts.

Talked to some close to Paul, they are certain he's played his last game as a Celtic. Their quote, all good things must come to an end
I have to believe this is true . He even mentioned earlier in the week he would sign a 1 day contract to retire a celtic if it comes to that ...
While this may well be true, I don't find Dickerson a particularly reliable source.

We live in a country where Gilbert Arenas made an average of $18 million a year for THREE YEARS for doing nothing on the basketball court and being a huge disruption to his team in the locker room and where the President of this country makes, what, a half million dollars a year.

Who's to say who deserves what.

I wouldn't pay Pierce $15 million next year but my guess is someone would if they thought having him on their team will put them into the Finals.

Don't buy it. PP would like to stay here. He is under contract. Whomever is 'close to him' are guessing.
