I'm proud of this team, but seriously lets quit while we're ahead. Paul and KG need to retire or go in some aspect and we need to tank next year. We need to start the rebuild, this whole watching a old PP and KG is just sad at this point.

The 2014 Draft Class is looking to be the best class since 2003. I'd rather suffer through a few crappy seasons watching young talent develop then watch 2 HOFers regress. But thats just me.  ::)

The problem with KG and PP retiring and the Cs looking for help from the 2014 draft is that they wont be bad enough. Im not sure exactly but I believe the retirements would leave the Cs with about 8-9 mill to spend on a FA.

DA would have a few big man options throws it all at one player either Tiago Splitter for a few years, or Chris Kaman for a year. He could also split it up between two bigs like Brandon Wright and Dajuan Blair. I will also assume that DA would consolidate the SG position by moving Lee and/or Terry for a backup SF. Lets say some type of sign and trade for Nick young or Dorell Wright.
That would leave a healthy 2014 celtics rotation as follows..

PG Rondo
SG AB
SF Green
PF Sully
C  Splitter
   Bass
   Crawford
   Wright
   Williams
   Shav

Not pretty but the issue is they would likely still compete for the last playoff spot wither making it and giving the Cs another first round loss and the 15th pick or missing and giving the Cs the 14th pick with a very slight glimmer of lottery hope.

shooting for lottery pics is not a way to quick rebuild,  for every Durant  there will be a 1000 busts, a total crap shoot.

don't really think we can get another big as good as KG ,  what we need is another good young center like Asik to go with him and play half the game .
when KG is on the court he is still very good , better than anybody we can get.

deal is ,  the way the best players are divided on so many teams,  that I it will be hard to unseat the HEAT or rather put together the right team to get it done.  With the N B A. rules, not even the Lakers , can gather the players to do it , especially since Kobe is hurt.

rebuild is more possible by keeping DOC ,  then trying to add the right FA's

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'm in favor of the mini single season tank. One year on the bottom, build up Green,Sully, Bradley's value. Trade em for more good stuff.

Get Rondo some real help, sign Cousins, Klay Thompson, get Wiggins or Parker.

Championship by 2018.
Similarly to what the Spurs did when they drafted Duncan.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I said it in another thread.  The problem isn't kg/pierce, it's the coach that doesn't have the balls to use them effectively ie in sixth man or situational roles

Would we have a good amount of cap if we buy out pierce and KG retires? I believe KG's salary would still count against the cap right? and we cant Amnesty him because his contract was after the old CBA correct? Darn we are in a tough spot here. Well not me Danny.

Why do you want salary cap? To get who? And I don't think we'll have that much of it regardless.

Smart move is to keep the team, and some pieces and move on. In two more seasons we'll have a better opportunity to make changes. Right now is not that time.

So add more salary to a team approaching the luxury tax , that has no shot at a title ?

It makes no sense to tie up more future cap space for a 1st or second round exit .

We have to rebuild either way , why put it off for another year or 2 and waste Rondo's prime years? Makes no sense whatsoever .

Tie up what exactly? It's a matter of devising contract length. Plus, a sign and trade option actually could shed salary. Also Hard Cap.

It's time. I don't want it to be, but I don't want to be the hawks. I'd rather have hope and be terrible than know the team will be nothing more than another team's  warm-up for the ECF.

Back to wanting Joe fired.

I'm not either, but I think at this point you need to commit to either giving Rondo the pieces around him to compete, or doing the total tear down. I'd much prefer to build around Rondo now than suck for 3 years hoping to get a player as good as Rondo + 1 or 2 more like him.

I'd rather have KG back...than be the Bob cats for umpteen years to come.

I think Boston has a better chance of rebuilding /reloading as they go, than dumping the whole team and starting over.

We have NO presence in the paint , but KG. Boston since I was a kid always had a great front line .   I don't think a bunch of swingmen can 't go anywhere.  MJ's and LBJ's are few and far between.

r a BIG man to play center is the key.   Doesn't have to be D12  or Marc Gasol/ Lopez.......just a HEALTHY younger guy than can play lots of minutes  ......like SPLITTER/Asik/ Cosuins/  Sideshow Bob

Problem is how to get somebody decent to play center and still Keep KG and Rondo and Green.

Thats why DA makes the big bucks.....he needs to figure it out.

We are going ANYWHERE without a critical a better inside presence

Want KG back at power forward.
