I'm proud of this team, but seriously lets quit while we're ahead. Paul and KG need to retire or go in some aspect and we need to tank next year. We need to start the rebuild, this whole watching a old PP and KG is just sad at this point.

The 2014 Draft Class is looking to be the best class since 2003. I'd rather suffer through a few crappy seasons watching young talent develop then watch 2 HOFers regress. But thats just me.  ::)

That kind of thinking turns you into the Bobcats, Magic, Detroit, Kings, etc. It's not pretty, and it's based on luck.

My prediction is that full-on tanking won't happen.

And I *hope* Doc, KG and PP return, but I guess that's a 50/50.

I was against running it back a few days ago but seeing this team and what KG and Pierce (but mostly KG) still had left in the tank made me change my mind : with an healthy team, i.e Rondo and Sully back, and a couple of reinforcements to add depth (and rest the old guys during the season), I think we can go far next year.

Plus, I just don't see an alternative scenario that helps us in the future.

It is based on luck, but I'm sick of watching Paul and Kevin regress into fossils. These guys aren't going to be around forever and we have to think about the future. Rondo is 27 and has about 5 years of prime basketball left. Jeff Green will turn 27 before next season, and has shown flashes of greatness. Neither of those guys are #1 options, and neither are Paul or Kev. You need serious talent in this league to win, we don't have that anymore. We have 2 HOFers who are past their prime, who cannot carry the load anymore.

Time to rebuild, time for the next era. This 2014 draft is also stacked outside of the lottery.

And have a first or 2nd round exit? We want championships. Mediocore teams aren't good enough for championships and aren't bad enough for high draft picks. We are a mediocore team, lets move on.

Don't know what we should do. I hope its either they come back. Or they Retire. Thats all. Do not want to see KG or Pierce on another team. Just no. If there is some magical way to get someone in that can really support these two then fine. But its going to be tough. Very interesting spot the Celtics are in and i hope Ainge doesn't drop the ball.

If that's true, then what's the harm of going for the playoffs one more time next season?

We are a mediocre team in the regular-season but considering how the team managed to win two critical games in the playoffs without Rondo and Sully, I think it's fair to say we would have played much better overall with them.

Obviously it's only a game of "what if" so it's kind of useless but the best scenario, to me, is to try one more run with the current team and try to get as high as possible in the 2014 draft which is going to be great, from what we can read and hear everywhere. I know it's two  opposite ways but an in-between would be fine.

I believe KG will retire this summer while Paul Pierce sticks around another year unless Danny can get a good deal for him from another team (which he will try for)

Rondo and Sully don't make us contenders.

1. Delaying the Inevitable.
2. We should get the highest pick possible.

Congratulations, you won't see even a contender for 5 years, let alone a championship if you rebuild.

i agree
i'm not 100% sure why ppl think we'll be lottery bound next season.
if we keep Rondo and Jeff, that's a great core that's in their prime. surround them with good talent and rebounders --Bass/Sully/AB/T-Will, I'm cool with that.
Everyone else can go...and I'm willing to package the rest of the bench for 2 or so good players.

Not sure why everyone thinks you need a token old person on your team. Look at GSW, OKC, Bucks (even though they lost), Hawks to a certain extent. These aren't bad teams, and with good coaching could be great.

I'll be sad, but I;ll be ok if PP and KG leave. Maybe even Doc, too (depending).

I guess I'm just ready to see what's next for us.

I agree.  Let the team go out on a good note.  I really think tonight's fourth quarter rally is that good note.  Better than any we could have realistically hoped for this year, and probably better than we could hope for next year.  The margin of error is just too infinitesimally small with this team.
