In my opinion, Greg Oden isn't and shouldn't sign with us. Firstly, he's a pretty sought-after player because everyone knows his potential is massive; why else did he get drafted first? Therefore, he basically gets to pick where he wants to play. From what I've heard, he's looking at Cleveland (because that's where he is) and Miami (who doesn't want a championship?) most closely. I don't know why he added Boston to his list, but it's probably because he expected us to go far this season (we're pretty big underachievers... injury was a big reason).

Next, teams are gonna pay for players they want. We don't have much money and are right up against the salary cap. Why would he want to take less money in a less desirable location? I don't see a reason.

Maybe if Pierce, KG, Rondo, Doc find ways to convince him it could happen. Getting destroyed by a New York team that hasn't reached its potential doesn't help our cause. He wants to win, like anybody else, and he wants money. We can guarantee neither.

Those are two guys who will be available this summer. It just a question of whether their teams (Atlanta, Utah) are interested in J.Green.

I think if the relocation of Sacramento to Seattle goes through, I wonder if a Hayes for Terry swap would be of interest to Seattle. houston or bucks or suns has way more better offer for smith than us...

I think Green to Varejao is a real distinct possibility.  Of course Andy is always hurt and is expiring which is why Cleveland might very well be interested in Jeff Green.  Plus they have Zeller, Speights, and Leurer who are all young centers.  Green would be a solid starting SF and back-up PF for them as well.  I think that trade is very possible.

I also think if there is a trade for a Denver center it will be McGee who has an awful contract.  They might even just take Bass and Terry for McGee.  Boston makes both of those trades and finds a back-up SF in free agency, and they would be very competitive next year.  Of course I don't think that team would be able to beat Miami, so I really don't see the point in making all those trades.
