I don't have much interest in keeping Jeff Green. Not convinced by him at all.
I am happy to send him on his way.
I suppose if we want to go into full rebuild, we could but realize that Jeff is only 26 years old. I suppose he could be a huge asset, but trading for young players is always a risk, while Jeff is as consistent (throughout his career) as any player.
I'd rather keep Green. I don't want to go full rebuild.
I also think it makes sense if we don't rebuild. If we keep it together.
Jeff Green doesn't fit in all that well here. The team already has Pierce at the SF position so minutes are an hard to come by for Green at his main position (SF). Always trying to find ways to get Green more minutes to make use of him. It's just awkward.
J.Green is not a major need for this team right now. He is valuable, what he does is useful, but it is not a major need.
In contrast, the team does have a major need for another starting caliber big man. There is a large void there. A hole that needs to be filled. It is going to be very difficult to get anyone to fill it via free agency or by trading the other role players.
However, they might be able to trade J.Green to fill that hole and, if they can, I say that is a good way to improve the team.
if minutes is the problem for green (playing time)
then trade bass
so our pf would be green/sully
our sf would be pierce/green
if bass gets us a big man, and sully is not yet 100% healthy moved kg back at pf, and as long as shavlik was here, he can be our back-up center or some drafted players
I don't think starting Jeff Green at PF is the answer to the team's big man problems. Too weak a rebounder and much less effective defensively there than at SF.
Bass won't bring much quality back in a trade. I think Boston needs to go out and bring in a good starting quality big man to slot in alongside Garnett. Someone who can take some of the load of KG's shoulders.
Have to give up value to get value back. Jeff Green, hopefully, has enough value to make that happen for Boston.
you mean let bass stay and let go of green?
the who will be our future SF?
who would you trade for green?
Josh Smith or Paul Millsap are probably the two top names on my list. I like Garnett at the center position so I am more interested in bringing in a PF to play alongside him. Those are two guys who will be available this summer. It just a question of whether their teams (Atlanta, Utah) are interested in J.Green.
I would like to move Bass as well. Probably wouldn't get much in return for him. You mentioned Mozgov, I would happy enough with that. Chuck Hayes is another guy who could interest me.
PF - Josh Smith, Jared Sullinger
C - Kevin Garnett, Timofey Mozgov
If Ainge wasn't able to trade J.Green for Millsap or Josh Smith, I would be interested in trading Bass to Charlotte for Tyrus Thomas. He has had two bad years in a row but he is a talented player. Much more so than Bass. Charlotte wants to dump him. I would be happy to take a chance on him at the low low price of Brandon Bass.
I am not concerned about the future SF. A problem for another day.
I am not convinced Jeff Green is a top 2-3 player on a title contending team. If he was, I would be inclined to keep him. I understand some people believe he can be. I just don't share that believe. So, due to that, I feel he is a replaceable entity somewhere down the line.
