Time to Blow It Up

The only upside I can think of for this impending embarrassment at the hands of the Knicks is that it should leave no doubt whatsoever that this team is past the point where it can compete anymore.

Missing Rondo is huge.  Don't get me wrong. 

But if Danny Ainge, figuratively speaking, looks all of us Celtics fans in the eyes this summer and says "We're going to contend again next year," he should be fired.  I've generally been a Danny supporter, but if this team isn't fully committed to a rebuild at the start of next season, I want him gone.  Running back this tired group again would be GM malpractice.

The run last summer gave us all hope that we could have a couple more years of being relevant.  It's pretty clear now that that was a foolish dream.  It's too bad that this era couldn't end on a positive note more like last season, but it is what it is. 

It's time to start over.

I think Bledsoe is a bit overrated, certainly not on Harden's level. He's a good player, but I don't see where he'd fit on this team with Rondo. Unless we super blow it up and send Rondo, KG (likely retiring), and PP packing.

Even when we had Rondo, the rest of the personnel on this team were not clicking on all cylinders.

With a full healthy roster at the start of the season, we actually had the most offensive talent 1-15 than we had in a long time.

At this point this is stating the obvious.  No sane person can deny that it's time to move on.

The question now is, what can we realistically do to expedite the process?  KG and PP are clearly old and done; not just as stars, but maybe even as full time players.  So will other teams even want them anymore?  If so, the best we can hope for is salary dumps.

So this is how it will end for PP.  He will either be a salary dump or maybe even, amnestied. 

KG won't retire.  He will get his salary I can almost guarantee you.  So he too might be a salary dump if we can trade him. 

Guys like terry and bass no one will want.  We may be stuck with the for a while.

Beyond that, we have some decent pieces.  Rondo will be back but we may find out he's nowhere near a superstar.  Sully and Avery are solid players.  Green can be very good but he's either a good second option or very good third.

Exactly, and Ainge kept talking about how he wasn't going to let that happen like Red did.

Well here we are and now and its too late  get anything for these players.

This should have been blown up two years ago.

I know everyone hates to tank and we always get screwed but what else is there? We have no trade assets outside of aan injured Rondo and an overpaid Green. Could be real ugly next year but maybe we get Wiggins..

no crap.   it's was over when kg hugged rivers last season after the heat lost.  ainge blew this thing.   it might need a total house cleaning at this point.   so many bad moves.

It was important to get a good pick in this draft, but marquee players like Smart and GR3 have returned to school, making it even more complicated. I hope a guy like Giannis is still there when we draft, as we definitely need someone to pass Pierce's scoring torch to.

I wish they had blown it up after our loss to the Heat last year. Game 7 against the best team in the league, one modeled after our Big 3. A great send off by the fans in Game 6. It was the perfect way to end this era. It would have been so easy too, since Ray left.

Last season and before were full of great memories, but I don't really remember any from this season. Mostly fans fighting about Rondo while the Celtics played mediocre basketball and battled injuries.

Actually when Ray left, the team was essentially "blown up".

After Rondo's injury then Sully's injury, the team was gutted even more.

The team we are fielding now is a shell of the team we wanted to develop at the start of this season.

So for those who say to blow it up, how do we do it? Rondo won't want to stick around for a rebuild, and any trade involving him is gonna bring us less in value. Who is a realistic trade partner for Rondo?
