nba officiating is always suspect.  im far more surprised when a game is officiated well, rather than poorly....which speaks volumes about them as a whole.

with regards to game 1, we lost it, not the refs.

I watched the first quarter, and felt it was great.

Don't know 'bout the rest.

We collapsed in the fourth, NBA refs always miss calls and too many star calls.  I think pound for pound they are the worst refs in pro sports but largely that is because of all replays it is easily to see stuff they miss or blew a call on.

That's actually a pretty big downside of Rondo's injury

The officiating was bad. But, all NBA officiating is bad. So now all we have to worry about is, was the officiating fair? And yes, it was.

Yup, pretty much says it best. Melo got away with a couple calls but that's to be expected.

Did all of the officiating in the entire game happen within the first quarter?

Perfect Analogy.
Exactly what I felt.
Officiating was bad, leaning on mediocre, in my opinion it was called too tight in the first 3 quarters, and then called poorly in the 4th, there was a couple of times when Green drove and got whacked in the arms, should have been free throws, but no calls.

And how can I forgot the ONLY good play Terry had, the rebound he got from Jason Kidd, we were up by 5 with a chance to have the last possession and then they called an Over the back foul. Kidd hits 2 free throws, lead is down to 3 going into the 4th. Complete momentum swing.

I know, what the hell was that? How on earth did Terry commit a foul on that play? AND, there were two parts in the game where even Mike Breen said "Melo got away with a foul there." When even the ESPN guys are picking up on non-calls, that's where you know it's getting bad.

There was also a KG block on Carmello which (as per the replay) was clean but was called a foul...yet from memory the Knicks had a very similar block which I thought was a foul but was a no call.  Two identical plays and both could have gone either way, but they caleld both in the Knicks favour.

There were a number of drives to the basket from Pierce and Green that I thought were clear fouls that weren't called.

There was one Knicks play that I could have sworn was an offensive goaltend that was not called (But then they missed the putback anyway).

There was some very nice defensive ball pressure on Carmello that got called as fouls which I thought were just very good defense, and I felt they were called intentionally with the aim of trying to get Carmello some more space to work.

BUT

For every one of those plays there was more or less a corresponding bad call that went out way, so as stated above you can't really complain.  The officials were terrible, but at least they were terrible to both teams.

I'd be the first to call out bad officiating as I listed the officiating as my X factor for the series.  I thought they did a decent job today.  They missed some calls both ways but for the most part let them play on both ends.  I thought they were fine today.

For me, I expect officials to miss some calls.  If they miss them both ways, I'm fine with it.  It's when they call it all one sided that I get upset.

What if it's one-sided against the opponents? :)
